my name is Thomas and I'm just exploring this way of traveling. It makes a lot of sense as the best way of going anywhere is to visit people. I think even more than actually going somewhere to see the local sights I like to meet the people and experience the culture. On organized trips I tend to sneak away to meet some random people and might find myself a bit lost going with the flow...
I live in Beijing, China - which is a great place to meet people from everywhere - and in my daily life I'm a designer, working mostly with furniture. I work for a small start-up company and China is also a really interesting place to try to create something new. I guess I also spend a fair amount of my spare time on creative things.
China is also one of my favorite travel destinations as it's really multiple destinations with a lot of variations in both landscape and culture and already staying in China allows me to have a little bit better understanding of the people and the culture when I go to another place. (And as this is a great place to visit I hope I will be able to to welcome some people to come here as well).
As a person - and as a guest of anyone - I would describe myself as very easy going and open to people and different habits, but also very considerate. Not least of course in the case where you're really staying at someone's home.
Motto, fill what’s empty, empty what’s full. I think of that as both social awareness and as having and spreading fun and happy moods.
I just wrote all this and I probably need to rewrite and add more stuff about myself. For now I hope I can elaborate or answer questions if anyone wants to know more. Thanks :)
