Great guy. You'll always have an interesting thing to do with him. From crazy parties to chill movie nights. He has a great taste in music too.
Ian is a terrific man, he is welcoming, creative, and reliable. He works in renewable energy, and knows the Bay Area well, especially for surfing/hiking. I have stayed at his home in Berkeley, which is spacious, clean, sunny, and relaxed. There is a big backyard, with fruit trees, and a bbq/picnic setup. Plenty of great restaurants, and grocery stores nearby, and close to the University. Ian would be a great guest, and as a host would offer you a very comfortable, and efficient stay.
Ian and I worked together for a few years at a great nonprofit and have remained friends. He adheres to the campfire rule 100%: leave it better than you found it. Basically, Ian's one hell of a guy.
Ian's a great guy I'd be glad to have crash on my couch, or take care of my pad while I'm away.
Ian is a great friend and he is also a relative. So I've known him for a long time. When I stayed at his place in Berkeley for a few days in early spring he was a great host. The room was simple and nicely decorated. His kitchen is large and easy to use.
But mostly Ian's great friendship skills and awareness of people's needs and heart centered life style at home made it a real treat to spend some time at his place.
Ian has traveled a quote a bit - to Europe and So America for studies and to India with a friend a few years ago. He understands people well and he knows how to put them at ease.
Here's a story...it was summer several years ago and Ian was back in the NW visiting. We decided to go on a hike. After awhile I was getting concerned - we were on some back logging roads, (I thought, with no map, we were definitely lost). No way. Ian's innate directional sense and all the years he's spent in the mountains growing up helped him find the exact trail head he was looking for, and we had an exceptional hike that day.
Ian's lived on both US coasts, has roots in Louisiana and family in the Bay Area too. It makes for a casual sophistication and easy going attitude, and he's intuitive, smart and detailed as well. As a host you will really enjoy your stay and the location in Berkeley is great. As a guest he'll be someone you will want to see again.
Almost forrgot to mention that he's fluent in Spanish too.
I've known Ian for a few years now and highly recommend him as a both an AirBNB host and guest. He's considerate, reliable and fun! If you cross paths, be prepared for great travel conversations, thoughtful questions about your own stories, and warm enthusiasm for new adventures. Ian's house is also fantastic - a sunny oasis in North Berkeley with fruit trees, flowers and a big, welcoming kitchen.
Very responsible guy, would trust him with my home, car, etc.
