David and Christina were very welcoming hosts. The apartment is immaculate and beautifully renovated. It's in a brilliant location within a 15-second walk from the J train and surrounded by great places to eat, drink and shop in the Lower East Side. Though I didn't see much of my hosts—understandable, given the Christmas and New Year period during which I stayed—Christina was there to welcome me and David stopped in on my final night for a couple of drinks. I wish I could have stayed longer to see more of David & Christina! I highly recommend the apartment and hosts.
First of all, David is an easygoing person and was really helpful from the first minute. Aside from being a great host, he can also give good recommendations about nearby places and events around the city if you ever feel any short of those.
The 6th-floor-without-elevator apartment, to sum up, was a joy especially with that sense of achievement every time you climb all the way up. But it gets easier as you get used it, which doesn't take long. The apt is just a block away from the F Train 1st ave entrance. The first thing you should do right after settling in is to get a subway map and metro card.
Nearby is a lot of bars and restaurants. So it's really hard to get hungry and completely sober around. Little Italy and Chinatown are also just a few blocks away, in case.
Apartment is clean and basically close to photos except a flat screen and a table sitting on the main room now instead of the big fat guy on the corner. You will have fast internet, 7/24 hot water, air conditioning in every room, tv with countless channels, fully working kitchen. A bathroom having a jakuzi with complicated knobs, but wouldn't be a problem after a few trial and errors following a brief orientation. There is a closet in the bedroom but the bed might cause problems to people over 6" so keep that in mind.
Great, even for first timers, like myself.
I really enjoyed meeting David and staying at this apartment. I stayed 3 weeks and found the location to be perfect, with the F train right out the front and walking distance to loads of bars and restaurants. David basically left me with the apartment to myself and always let me know if he would be back for the night. I would definitely recommend staying with David and I hope to catch up with him for a beer the next time I visit NYC!
David was a great host. He's very accommodating and friendly. The apartment was clean, nice, and conveniently located.
I loved my three weeks here! David and Christina made me feel at home right off the bat, and the place was exactly as advertised.
I basically had the apartment to myself the whole time. David always let me know ahead of time about the few times he would be there, which was unnecessary but very much appreciated.
The room/bed is a great size (for one person), the apartment has everything you need, the location is unbeatable and the hosts are wonderful. Definitely recommend staying here.
I had a convenient stay at David & Christina's. They made me feel at home and did everything to make my stay comfortable. I had the apartment for myself most of the time but also enjoyed nice chats with them. The location is great and really easy to get round to different areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Whole Foods store nearby added a big plus to my stay - with good healthy food.
Kitchen, bathroom and the flat is very well equipped with all the amenities. The bedroom is basic/practical yet comfortable and perfectly fine.
I enjoyed my visit in NYC and much of it because of my comfortable accommodation and the hosts' kind and caring nature. Thank you!
Staying at David's was super easy and comfortable. They place is nice and definitely feels like home. I stayed 6 weeks, pretty much with the place to myself the whole time! Great neighborhood, with awesome food super close by. Whole foods is a block away as is some really stellar coffee shops. Weekends in SOHO are always nice, just steps away from really great brunch. I commuted up to CT, and the 6 to GCT made it fairly easy. The F is literally right out the door too. David and his wife definitely made things easy, from check in to check out. Thanks!
This apartment is great! Clean, spacious and amazing location. Dave is a genuinely nice guy, though he and his wife were rarely there during my stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to experience life in LES!
I spend three months in this flat and it was absolutely perfect. David and Christina are fantastic. The flat is very comfortable and the location is perfect. The lower east side is probably one of the best place in NY. Subway stations are very close, so it's very easy to go to brooklyn or uptown.
I had a very good time and it was a great experience for me. I recommend this place and I want to come back.
ok so i definitely had an amazing stay at this place. the location is perfect - between the hip east village where you can spend your days in funky cafes sipping on your lattes and eating the best bagels in the world and the soho are where you can buy anything you could ever have wanted to wear. i used the citibike and to be honest there was no part of manhattan from the southern part of central park to downtown, and even over to williamsburg that i couldn't get to within 30 minutes (though i ride fast and love swerving through nyc traffic) ;)
the room was small but adequate and the bed was nice and comfortable. i am 189cm tall (just under 6'3") and i don't think you could be too much taller and fit into that bed, but i did fit and slept well. there is street noise coming in through the window so ear plugs are essential. that said, i am a light sleeper and with my ear plugs i didn't have a problem.
the window was sealed shut for the air conditioning, and i don't particularly like air-con, so would have liked to have opened the bedroom window, and so this was the only real negative for me, but i left the bathroom window open and that was enough.
you can push through to the roof of the building and see the downtown and uptown skyscape at night or as the sun is setting and it's beautiful.
it's on the 6th floor with no elevator and i went up and down the stairs so many times each day that i've now got a toned butt ;)
i didn't meet david but he was on hand via telephone or email to answer any question and fix any problem - and in fact a problem that arose with the door while i was there was fixed within the blink of an eye, so that was all wonderful.
the other housemate was a lovely woman who was never home so i ended up essentially having a manhattan apartment all to myself for 2 weeks. i love being left to my own devices, so i could not have manufactured a more perfect setup had i tried.
a great little place. definitely recommended.
