The best part about the experience was the location. The house is in a beautiful and secluded area -- we definitely felt like it was a true "getaway."
The house was acceptable. Some parts of the house are poorly constructed and not functioning (the downstairs shower was completely unusable, some floor boards were not attached, the "pond" is more of a puddle, the "grill" leaks into the drawer below, and some parts of the house are unfinished).
The major problem was David; he acts as though he is doing you a favor by letting you stay there. We received a 10-page list before arriving of rules for the house which we read, printed, and took seriously. We followed the list while we were there; and before leaving, we cleaned the kitchen, took out the trash and left the house as we found it (even though there is a $75 cleaning fee included in the rental price). Upon checking out, we began to receive extremely rude emails from David noting everything we had forgotten to do. He was especially upset about the fact that we had forgotten to start the dishwasher (even though all the dirty dishes were loaded inside and we had put the detergent in but forgotten to press "start"). He accused us of breaking his deck railing and a lamp (both of which we did not break). The deck railing was one of David's poorly-constructed, handmade projects, but he was still convinced we broke it rather than recognizing the possibility of it having fallen apart because of poor construction. We received a total of 8 rude emails from David, after the fact, questioning our morals and educational background, and he submitted an AirBNB claim against us. It was stressful to deal with this and frustrating because we had followed his rental agreement and paid him close to $800 for our stay. I believe David is unsuited for AirBNB because, at the end of the day, he doesn't seem to want people staying in his house. Again, he treats his rental as if he is doing you a favor.
Even though we enjoyed the location and the overall experience, there is no way we would ever consider staying at this house again. Having to go through the back-and-forth with an impolite and accusatory David was too upsetting. We went for a relaxing, low-key weekend, and we ended up having to deal with a lot of unnecessary drama.
We had an amazing stay at the Tower House. The place is superbly designed, clean, spacious, and full of great light. Our favorite spot to hang was the large deck with views of the mountains and surrounding wilderness. David was a very accommodating host, providing great suggestions for local attractions, food, hiking and swimming spots. Can't wait to go back!
we really enjoyed our stay at the tower house. everything was clean and well organized..many rooms and many options for sleeping. 6 people were very comfortable. we especially loved the great back deck, the quirky architectural touches and the nice high ceilings!
House exactly as advertised. David was an accommodating host and even provided helpful suggestions on activities in the local area.
David and Sandy are self sufficient, respectful of special needs and great company.
