Working in healthcare, I love to travel, ride a motorcycle every day (only rent a car now and then) and am always ready for an adventure. I have been all over Europe, toured Vietnam by motorcycle and spent over a month in Thailand. I did some snorkeling in Belize and Thailand and like heading down to Cancun for more snorkeling and swimming adventures. Happily divorced, solo traveler, non-smoker, not shy and I can cook!
I have always been a budget traveler because I grew up with those values. Besides, it's very lonely to sit in a big hotel surrounded by strangers who don't really talk to you! I'm feeling a bit old (darn) to do the dorm thing in hostels so this is the perfect compromise. I love to hear and recite good stories and some of my best travel memories are those unusual conversations that can occur between strangers. I do a lot of research and thinking about what I'd like to do before my trip. By the time I arrive, I have lots of ideas and can just pick a direction and go. You won't see me looking at travel books on the road (maps, yes!).
As a guest I consider myself responsible. I'm apparently one of the few people who hangs towels and cleans up after myself even in hotels. Why change just because you're not at home? I am outgoing and am open to hear any tips about local stuff to do. Working class ethic, simple tastes and willing to try most anything one time. I look forward to meeting some of you soon!
