I’m a book-lovin’, whiskey-sippin’, baseball-watching, near-borderline music obsessive from Baltimore now living in lovely, mountainous Asheville, NC. I spent a year in Argentina and half a year in Spain back in my younger days, but my current attention is focused on the great U.S. and A. My most recent big trip was a journey from NYC to San Francisco entirely by train. I love meeting new people—not necessarily likeminded, so long as there is a mutual respect—and I am eternally grateful to the Internet for making this possible. I’m not too fancy; travel often includes public transportation, (clean!) motel rooms, and spirited conversation. (Though, I can certainly appreciate a well-aged steak when appropriate.) For me, good travel is much more about experiences than checking off a list of must-dos: idling lazily over beers, driving mountain roads blaring old time-music (before the beer!), tromping around a new city by foot or bike…I find these much more meaningful than museums.
