Actual place much better than pictures. Really enjoyed firepit, BBQ, canoeing/kayaking on the lake. Love the cedar smell of the cabin. Hosts were very kind and accommodating. Great cabin getaway that I will recommend to friends/family!
Thank you. So nice of you to say that about the pictures! We have to agree :)
Hope to rent to you again some time.
The cottage was perfect ! We really enjoyed the pergola, the view on the lake and the Kayaks.
Thank you very much !
Thanks again Sebastian!
Great view, beautiful cottage, clean and wonderful setting. We went for our honeymoon, champagne was provided and the cottage was just everything we wanted. Would recommend this cottage as a great place to stay!
What an amazing trip! Craig's cottage is a fantastic escape: very peaceful surroundings with a beautiful lake - and the cottage is equipped with everything you need. The listing is very accurate but the pictures could never do the place justice. Lac Barnes is simply a gorgeous place.
This was one of the few listings my partner and I found for a simple cottage - perfect for two people or a small family - with a wood construction and a rustic appeal. We enjoyed swimming, hiking, canoeing, campfires as well as cooking up a storm in the cottage's extremely well-equipped kitchen.
We are very tempted to make a repeat visit! Great place and great people.

Craig's cottage was the perfect long weekend retreat for my boyfriend and I. The cottage itself was cosy and very comfortable. The screened in porch, deck, fire pit and dock allowed for lots of space to enjoy the outdoors. The lake is pristine, we went swimming, canoeing and kayaking a number of times while there. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get out of the city for some rest and relaxation!
The entire experience with this magical cottage escape was wonderful.
Communication with the hosts was seamless, and we were provided with a very helpful set of directions and property details.
The lake was pristine and very quiet, with no motor-boat activity, and the loon calls provided an incredible soundscape throughout our time there.
Highly recommended and worth every penny :)
We stayed at Craig's cottage for 8 days this June and loved every moment! The lake was amazingly beautiful, and the cottage was quiet and private. It was a wonderful and relaxing getaway.
The cottage itself was extremely well-equipped. The screened-in porch made it easy to spend more time outside even when mosquitoes were bad, the bed was really comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped for the hunger that cottages always seem to inspire! The cottage rental also included a canoe, two kayaks, and everything was set up for easy enjoyment.
Another feature that we really appreciated was that the cottage is easily accessible from Ottawa (35 min drive), and the town of Perkins is close by and has a grocery with everything available.
We were welcomed by Craig's mom, and she was friendly and helpful, and even left us a bottle of wine. Everything was easy, and we really enjoyed our visit. Would definitely recommend. They were also very helpful about accommodating our unusual dates.
Thanks for the lovely review and very sorry about the hammock!
Our stay at this apartment was excellent. We loved the central location and ability to walk our two girls to parks and wading pools. Lots of excellent restaurants and shops nearby, and even had no problem finding parking on the side streets.
Everything was clean and well organized. We would be happy to stay at your place again in the future.
Despite some initial difficulty getting into the apartment, which Craig dealt with immediately ad I feel was a minor glitch, we found this apt. to be perfect. Up to our arrival Craig was great with communicating and answered all my questions very quickly. He left detailed information for us in the apt. He even left us a bottle of wine in the fridge which was much appreciated!
The location was perfect. There is a liquor store almost next door, drug store and market just up the street. Lots of restaurants and pubs to choose from. We even walked back from downtown one evening - about 15 minutes.
Parking on the street is limited but we parked on the side street called Powell St for our week long stay and had no problems.
For a week this was a excellent choice, The apt is roomy, bright. A large window with patio doors looks out over a park- very nice . It was very clean. There is no air conditioning but I have to say that we were there when it was extremely hot and we felt fine. Craig had a window fan in the kitchen and there was a very good ceiling fan in the bedroom. We never minded the heat at all. I would definitely stay there again.
This apartment has a great, central location. Anything you need is within a few blocks' walk. The proximity to the Canal is amazing for running, etc. Craig is an attentive host, yet respectful of privacy. He checked in periodically and made sure we didn't run short of coffee! All queries were answered quite quickly - we were able to park nearby with relative ease, and without having to pay any additional parking fees. The space accommodated our family of four comfortably. Thanks for a lovely week in Ottawa!
wonderful guest. thanks :)
Craig and his family are very lovely people. I am very glad they chose to stay in our house. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend them to other Air BnB hosts. Very lovely people.
