Another great stay. The bed is so comfortable. Having two desks is a plus for my husband and me as we both come to LA to work. Thanks!
Perfect location for us. Beautiful, quiet neighborhood close to many good restaurants. Jim always communicated with us it a timely manner.
I had a pleasant stay at Clybourne Cottage. The four poster bed is
comfortable indeed (an insomniac would fall asleep there); I was delighted to have a desk. The neighborhood is quite lovely (quiet)--
shops and restaurants nearby. The
cottage is spacious, attractive and (website hidden) includes premium channels. I did meet Jim and Amy,
who were friendly and gracious. This is a fine place to relax after a busy day.
We had a wonderful stay at Jim & Amy's adorable cottage. Although we love Airbnb stays~ this was our first AirBnB guest-home stay (accommodations separate from main house) and whilst here, we enjoyed a lovely, very private "getaway" for our 1-Yr Anniversary + meeting friends in Universal City Walk for a quadruple birthday party.
The whole cottage is sparkling clean, cozy yet quite roomy, well appointed, tastefully decorated; the serene bathroom has all the toiletries you'd need, including hair spray ~ which I forgot! Shower had great water pressure and steamy hot; quality bed and bath linens were plush, soft and smelled yummy - bed and pillows very comfy. We didn't use the kitchenette amenities, except the much appreciated filtered water~ but there was a lovely assortment of breakfast beverages and appliances to use, which would make it easy to prepare and enjoy a continental style breakfast in the cottage or even prep some simple evening appetizers and wine.
The home is located in an adorable part of LA that is oddly as quiet and peaceful as a small resort town...so much so that you almost forget you're in LA! The only reason you're reminded you're in "the city" is because there are great restaurants & bars are within short walking distance and LA's great attractions very near by (we went to Universal). We had reservations for our anniversary dinner at Malbec Argentinean Bistro and would have walked but I had heels on so we opted to drive - but it truly would have been a quick walk. We also enjoyed a drink at a great little pub: "Timmy Nolans" (thanks Jim for confirming tip!) and had a nice artisan burger lunch at "The Counter" on our way out of town ~ all walking distance from their cottage. Overall, the Toluca Lake neighborhood is certainly quaint, safe and would be a great place to enjoy on foot for a morning or afternoon stroll if you have time.
Now to Jim and Amy! They are wonderful hosts and although we didn't interact directly with them, we could feel their kindness, care and warmth over the phone and in the emails; communication was excellent across the board. We only stayed for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy their home and area more! We truly can't wait to stay here again. Since we have friends in the area and do enjoy an LA visit here and there for some much needed "Foodie" cravings, we will definitely keep their beautiful cottage on our list of awesome places to stay in the LA area.
Thank you again, Jim & Amy! Your home and hospitality were a wonderful compliment to a special and great 1st Anniversary!
This was my second stay in Jim's lovely guest house. It was very clean and comfortable. The perfect place to come home to after a long day of rehearsals. I will be back!
Lovely little place. Everything I needed was in house. I had good parking, which is key in LA. The neighborhood was safe and very, very quiet, yet it was right by Warner Bros studios and the freeway. I also had access to restaurants and a Trader Joes, to include a Starbucks for those who need their Starbucks, that is important. These are within walking distance. There is also a place called Paty's (?) and a Big Boy. The Big Boy has an impromptu vintage car gathering and roller skate service on Friday nights.
The house was lovely. It was perfect walking distance from where my daughter needed too be each day. We never met the hosts but the place was clean and quiet. I'd recommend this listing to anyone and I'd definitely stay there again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jim's guest house. It was exactly as pictured, very clean and very well appointed. The bed was cozy and comfortable and we appreciated the coffee and tea in the morning. We loved having two desks to work at. We arrived on an incredibly cold California night and there was no heater. Luckily a local pharmacy was open and we were able to get a space heater which Jim reimbursed us for - all was fine. All in all a very nice stay - we will definitely be back! The neighborhood is lovely and centrally located. Jean & Randy
I had a great time at the Clybourn Cottage. It was exactly what I needed for my stay, and quite possibly the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Jim and Katie were both kind and available whenever I needed help. The kitchen is only a half kitchen, so I didn't prepare many home made meals, but there are plenty of great restaurants in the area and Rawkin' Juice around the corner which is a must try. Thank you Katie & Jim for your hospitality, I will definitely recommend your place to future LA travelers!
Host sent personal email with information about parking and checking in. Greeted us personally when we arrived.
Jim and his family were great. Would have them back as guests anytime!
