Too bad that Suzanne was away during our trip there !
Nevertheless she has managed to welcome us via a trusted neighboor and she had been preparing the flat for us with some nice attentions.
The appartment is splendid, a lot of space, I guarantee a nice journey there.
If you need a place to stay to Amsterdam for a short stay at walkable distance from city center, this is a very good place :)
Suzanne and Hein were extremely good hosts. The apartment is in a very good location, not far from the city centre at all. They provided us with many suggestions of where to go. I would highly recommend this apartment, and make sure you relax on the hammock if you do rent!
Suzanne is a dream hostess - incredibly generous, easy going, and communicative / responsive. Her home feels like a home and has everything one would need, plus is in a nice, trendy, safe part of the city, yet still central, and very picturesque. Lovely cafe for lunch right next door. It was an absolute delight to stay at her home.
My friends and I spent King’s Day and stroll around Amsterdam this May and decided to stay in Suzanne’s apartment. Suzanne is a very hospitable and nice host. She will help you with advice concerning sights, show on the map all the nearest places of interest and meet you near the house to prevent you get lost among numerous streets of the city. The apartment is clean and spacious, located in quiet and peaceful part of Amsterdam. Nevertheless it will take you only 15 minutes to get to the city heart and enjoy all the trappings of Amsterdam. There are 2 double beds in the apartments. One of them is floating in the air and may be funny to use, but you have to be young and sober to use the rope ladder to climb into it. We highly recommend anyone, who seeks for cozy and modern apartment, stay at Suzanne’s house. She will answer all your questions during the stay and help if something is needed.
The apartment is spacious and located in very nice and quiet surrounding, no more than 15 minutes of walk from the strict centre. There is enough place in front of the building to park a car for a while. However the parking is very expensive (I think around 5 euro/hour) so we moved our car to Park&Ride parking, where we paid just 1 Euro per day, and got to the city centre by tram which goes every 5 - 10 minutes.
The hosts are very nice and helpful in all questions and problems you may encounter when visiting foreign city.
I definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Amsterdam. We have had a good time there.
My boyfriend, my mother and I spent Easter at Suzanne's wonderful appartment. Suzanne met us in front of the appartment when we arrived, she had bought cheese, bread, beer and coffee for us, she made sure all our questions were answered, and made everything in her way to make us feel welcome. The appartment was big and bright, and lay in a quiet but central neighborhood (only a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown). There was a double bed in each of the two bedrooms, one of which was suspended from the roof and accessible by a ladder. This took some getting used to, and might not be ideal for everyone, but we though it was quite fun in the end! The zoo is right across the canal, so every morning while eating breakfast we could hear monkeys and wolves, something quite exceptional and amusing, staying in central Amsterdam. Suzanne was always just an e-mail or a phone call away, and always answered any questions we had swiftly. We can all wholeheartedly recommend Suzanne and her appartment for a "gezellig" stay in Amsterdam.
Suzanne was a great host and we enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam immensely. The apartment is well located and quiet with a lovely outlook. The bike hire was a 10 min stroll away which made all Amsterdam accessible. My kids particularly enjoyed the animal noises from the adjacent zoo audible in the apartment. Suzanne's generosity extended to wine and dinner for the night of our arrival after a long flight. She has my kid's addicted to the Dutch stroopwafel and searching for suppliers close to home. I can highly recommend Suzanne's apartment.
This was a beautiful home in a lovely building with fantastic hosts. I have to disagree with Robert - the photos are accurate (with one exception that I will come to later). I was worried when I read his review that I was going to have an unpleasant stay but it couldn't have been further from this. Yes there is a flat screen TV on the wall and a storage cupboard on the back wall but it doesn't detract from the charming nature of the house and the extra cupboard was beautiful and vintage and added to the charm of the apartment. By no means did it feel cramped or cluttered. Their home was clean and everything we needed was provided to us, plus extra in the way of breakfast supplies and beer, wine and snacks! Hein and Suzanne were wonderful hosts and answered any questions I had during my stay. It really was a home from home.
The only slight issue we had was with their new second bed - it was a lot of fun but perhaps not to everyones needs - a bed suspended by 4 ropes with a rope ladder to get into it. This caused much amusement during our stay trying to navigate our way in and out of it. Suzanne and Hein have since said they will update their photos and also provide a spare double bed for the less adventurous guests! I have no doubts they will do this. Some people will love the novelty factor of this bed - I think we could have done without the rope ladder after a few too many beers.
The apartment was provided with lots of reading material for the area and the view was idyllic, plus if you opened the window in the morning you could hear the monkeys in the zoo! The walk into the centre was about 20 mins but to local shops, restaurants and markets more like 10-15 min walk, just perfect!
I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone that doesn't want to stay in the main centre where all the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam continues until the early hours of the morning! I was pleased to come back to a comfortable home from home after a heavy day about town.
