We have lived in various places around the world and love to travel off the beaten path. We both work in the nonprofit/international development & believe in changing the world. We're friendly, easy going and clean without kids & no pets.
We love hosting in our nation's capitol, welcoming guests from all over the world. Our townhouse is walkable to many of DC's monuments and all the Smithsonian museums & national mall, the Capitol, the National Stadium/baseball (go Nats!), SW Waterfront area/restaurants & fish/crab market, Eastern Market, and other touristy spots. Many guests who have stayed with us just walk to all these touristy areas and they don't even use the metro/subway (most of these attractions are about a 15-20 minutes walk from our home).
Ours is a spacious two bedroom two level townhouse with two fully renovated bathrooms with lots of natural sunlight. On the top floor, there's a sunny, quiet balcony where you can soak up the morning sun (& where you can see the Capitol if you lean your head far enough out). The guest bedroom is furnished a comfy queen size bed. We'll provide you clean sheets, towels, hair blow dryer, shampoo, soap, iron. The newly renovated bathroom is very modern; feel free to leave your stuff in the guest bathroom since we have our own bathroom in our bedroom. Shared kitchen & living room, direct TV, fast internet access & laundry. There's also reserved parking if you need.
The SW Waterfront is DC's hidden gem, not well known but still in the city main area and walkable to many touristy attractions. Our area is completely safe to walk around, taxi will take you to our home without any problem, or you can just walk from where ever you are or take the metro which is walkable to three different metro stops. Closest metro stops walkable from our home are: Federal Center SW (blue/orange/silver line, 8 minutes walk) or SW Waterfront (green line, 8-10 minutes walk), also walkable from L'Enfant Metro (about 15 minutes walk). We're located on G ST (email hidden) SW).
If you are planning to hit the museums, monuments & other touristy spots, we recommend bringing your most comfortable shoes. DC is more spread out & you'll surely get your miles of walking! Why stay further away when you can be steps away from the capitol!
