We are a professional, self employed couple.
We love travel and people.
We are temporarily in the United States so our place in Amsterdam is available.
It was a pleasure staying at Sleeping Space, Paradise View Home. It was exactly what I was looking for. As the description states, the room is less private as it is enclosed in glass, but that was fine with me. They do offer a private room as an alternative listing. Now if you are independent traveler and the thought waking up to a beautiful view, the sounds of birds and a refreshing light breeze bothers you.. well, then I guess you are out of luck :). The bed was comfortable and the home was very clean. The location in Kihei is great as it was central to all the places I wanted to visit.
Myia and Gerrit were wonderful hosts. I would recommend staying with them. It was a pleasure staying at their home and I also enjoyed their loving cats. I had the opportunity to eat the most amazing mangoes that were picked right from their garden! They were very communicative prior and during my visit and had a wealth of knowledge about Maui. The beaches they suggested were the most beautiful and secluded on the island. I won't give them away so you'll have to find out which ones!
Unfortunately we had pretty cold and windy weather - a bit unusual for Maui.
The bed is fairly centrally located and on the porch (enclosed) so it was cold and loud from wind noise.
The hosts are very welcoming including fresh home made ice-cream.
I had a wonderful time at Myia and Gerrit's.
I would really recommend any independent traveller to stay here.
They are very kind, charming, and open-minded; always willing to meet new people. They gave me a lift to the beach and we had a nice swim in the sunset. Also, we had very interesiting conversations in the evenings.
Besides that, the apartment was very clean, specially the bathroom and the room that were remarkably clean. The room has such an awe-inspiring view. If you rent a car, the location is convenient. Nonetheless, if you don't the location is still convenient: it is 15-20 minutes walk to the bus stop. The bus network is OK to reach some of the points of the Island (even though you might need a car to get to the volcano or to some parts of the island).
Hope you enjoy!
Hello Airbnb users!
Here's a quick note to share with you that i had an absolutely wonderful three night stay at Myia and Gerrit's home in Kihei, Maui. Yes, i had a bright, clean and lovely bedroom with views towards Kahalui and Mt. Haleakala, but more importantly was Myia and Gerrit's tremendous "Aloha spirit" by which they made me feel like friend or family, rather than stranger or trespasser (which i've experienced at another Kihei B&B, not a member of airbnb). Needless to say, i thank Myia and Gerrit from the bottom of my heart for their unqualified welcome into their home, and would be very happy if i could stay in their home again. BTW, their 2nd story living arrangement offers an unparalleled view in pretty well all directions, so you get a great sense of the island. And the house "feels" Hawaiian rather than suburban or run-of-the-mill. Beautiful furniture, a palpable spirituality, and wonderful hosts. Thank-you, Myia and Gerrit for the gift of accommodation, and for sharing your own unique spirit. All the best as you continue to welcome travelers from around the world.
I had a great stay with Myia and Gerrit! The basket of local fruits was a nice welcoming touch! I now love eating guava :) The place is super clean, the kitties are just awesome, the view is great, the bed is very comfortable... In other words, I'd stay again! Cheers!
