I am a self-employed licensed contractor in the Washington, D.C. metro area specializing in custom painting, plaster, and handyman services. I have established a thriving business in the past twelve years, am in great demand, and have a sterling reputation in my field. My client base is wide and varied-from rich and powerful to wonderful every-day folks. My business is 100% referral-based, and my clients are extremely loyal. Consequently, i will do most anything for my clients (within reason) from working weekends, to traveling out of town to take take care of their second homes or re-location .
In what little free time i have, i pursue what any modern day renaissance man would- sailing, horses, collecting antiques, creating masterpieces from salvaged architectural materials, keeping my cooking knives sharp, collecting fine wine, gardening and reading.
What I could live without? Traffic. What I can't live without-fresh ingredients to cook with, wine, exercise, a reliable truck, my family, and my dog (i technically could live without my dog, but why would I? She's smarter than most people I know and infinitely more fun). I love the country, I love the beach, if its uncrowded. I love being home.
I am a perfectionist by nature, which is why my occupation suits me well (and why i work alone). I have low tolerance for lazy, sloppy, careless work. I feel attention to detail should extend to everything-restaurants, shops, inns. My father always said" if you can't do something right, don't do it at all!" Damn right.
