The apt. is very well located in Brooklyn, near transit, eateries (one of my favorite donut shops is about 1/2 mile away) and bodegas. The layout is little funny but that's clear to see in the posting pictures. The host kept good clear communication with me.
I adored staying at Nelson's - it was perfect! His friend Lester was waiting there with keys for me when I arrived and did a quick run-through of the wifi, air conditioning and Apple TV before he left. The AC was excellent, easily cooling off the entire (large!) one bedroom. The layout is great - you enter into an eat-in kitchen, then the bedroom, dressing room and living room extend towards the front of the building. The building is a well-preserved pre-war, and the apartment is decorated in eclectic mid-century, very tasteful and cool. There are two - TWO - supermarkets within less than a one minute walk, a drug store across the street, and the L is less than a 10 minute walk away. The neighborhood is very safe -busy and full of a big variety of restaurants and bars - but because the bedroom is in the center of the apartment, it's a very quiet place to sleep. The bed is very comfy! I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a Williamsburg experience, or a Manhattan experience with a short local train ride - just 4 stops from Union Square. Thank you, Nelson!
Charming, cool apartment in a great location - but...unfortunately we had a few issues with our experience. The foremost of these involved the cleanliness of the place. The floors were covered in long-time accumulations of dirt, with corners overflowing with dust and lint. The toilet, bath, and bathroom sink were also grimy. We checked the mattress, which seemed clean, as did the linens, but the bed frame itself was too dirty to get a read on. The place has a very cluttered feel - which is normal to some extent when staying in someone else's space - but this really felt like we had interrupted a very chaotic moment. :(
We were greeted by someone who was not Nelson, and who's affiliation with the place is still unclear to us. She seemed nice, but was herself unfamiliar enough with the apartment that she didn't know which keys were for which doors. We also learned through her that Nelson is not the resident of the apartment, either. This disconnection from the place's actual renter made us a bit leery - and all the more so when we were told the landlord would be coming into the apartment while we were not there the next day.
That said, the place has good amenities and appliances, AC, wifi was appreciated, and the L train is a short walk away. It faces a nice garden, and was quiet at night.
We've stayed at other places in the same neighbourhood, and understand that older spaces have a certain innate 'charm', but this was, overall, not a great experience.
The location was great and so was Nelson. The place is as the photos show. It did not feel overly clean, but was well enough.
Nelson was great host. Love the neighborhood and the apt was great! The bed was comfty and communication was quick and easy with nelson. Subway are easy to access. all in all it was a great stay!
Nelson is a great host - responded quickly and made my check in/out very simple. Everything I needed was ready in the apartment for the weekend. I'd definitely stay here again.
Our first trip to NY was amazing. Staying in Williamsburg was a great choice. Nelson was very quick to responding to all my messages. The apartment felt very New York and had everything we needed. If you want to stay away from the big city, this apartment is perfect.
Nelson was a gracious and responsive host. He was easy to get in touch with and was flexible and accommodating about check-in/check-out.
The apartment is in a fantastic location - lots of things to do in the East Village and very easy to get around to other neighborhoods.
The place itself was not large but comfortable with lots of character. It feels very New York and is full of interesting books and objects.
It's perfect for a single person or a couple.
I would absolutely book with Nelson again!
We really enjoyed our time in New York and Nelson's place! Apartment is in a good neighbourhood and it was easy to learn how to get around. Nelson also gave us many tips about good restaurants etc. We could contact him all the time.
Great stay ! The apartment was clean and welcoming, and Nelson was super responsive and helpful. The location is one of the best in NY, so don't hesitate one second to come here !
Nelson was a great guest. Super light and happy energy, while respectfully curious. I had fun chatting with him and learned he is up to interesting work. He used the time here to both recharge and took advantage of all the city had to offer. Would welcome him back anytime.
Nelson was the first guest that I didn't cross paths with actually! However, his communication skills were good through Air BnB, and he left the place very clean!
Nelson was a pleasure to have in our home. Welcome back any time.
Nelson is a very nice man. Very easy to host.
Nelson is quiet and a very nice man who does what he said. Very pleasant to be with he would be always welcome at home
Nelson was one of the tidiest guests we've had and very easy to share space with: nice, polite, considerate. He dealt very well with a few curve balls - our whole household caught a flu during his stay, and he kindly looked after our cat over a weekend.
Nelson was a perfect guest. Nice, respectful, flexible. He was very respectful and even left me a little thank you note when leaving. I was glad I could be a part of his nice stay in Paris. I wouldn't hesitate one second if he came back to Paris and wanted to stay at the apartment again :)
Overall a very pleasant experience and Nelson was the perfect guest.
Highly recommended and I hope he will return soon on one of his visits to London!
I'll summarize it in a few words. Nelson can be both a perfect guest as well as a perfect host. I'd recommend him to anyone.
