Janet was a great host and flexible. Rooms including washrooms kept very clean. Safe location within 30 minutes of London Bridge including 8 minute walk to the overground. Eating breakfast in the backyard with the little Koi pond was an unexpected plus. Host and family always pleasant, gave helpful answers to questions but didn't impose. A great stay and a chance to see lots of downtown London.
Whatever could go wrong, went wrong! I stayed with Janet for almost 2 months in the small room from late February. Cold showers became a regular occurrence late at night as the hot water had run out. The heating was lost for 4 consecutive days, the washing machine broken for 3 days but not always available as the host family used it as a dirty clothes basket and did not like their clothes removed, The water was cut off for 2 days while broken pipes were repaired. Bucket water was eventually available for the toilet but no hand sanitisers were provided for the bathroom nor was drinking water provided. For half the period the toilet did not always flush. The hot water was lost another morning. The lock on the bathroom was not secure as a repairman burst through it on one occasion. Repairs were made to all but the bathroom lock and there were no disasters during the last few weeks.
It was advertised that only Janet and her husband occupied the house but their 7 to 8 year old grandson and his mother lived in the house sleeping in the living rooms causing extra strain on facilities and a lot of noise. It was a busy household with Janet understandably stressed. The bed was squeaky but comfortable.
Although we arrived quite late Janet was waiting for us on the doorstep. The room turned out to be exactly as described, my daughter enjoyed the view onto the fish pond with the Kois (something that should probably be mentioned in the description, along with the nice garden). The neighbourhood is very quiet, a relief from the noisy day in central London. I appreciated the help given by Janet, her husband and her daughter when it came to compare timetables and to find the best route to our destinations. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience, to be repeated in the future.
This was my first experience with Airbnb so I was a bit nervous but it turned out very well. Janet made me feel very welcome, was flexible with an early check-in time and then didn't make a fuss when I was late because I got lost. Her family was welcoming but also respected my privacy. The place was very clean and comfortable (large room by london standards). I didn't get to see Janet much since I was working late most nights, but when I did she was always friendly and helpful.
The house is settled in a very nice area, with parks, services and nice cafes. The place is just 3 minutes far from train station on foot and in 10 minutes you can even reach honor oak park overground station, so, in approx 45 min you can reach the London Bridge. The house is confortable, the bathroom and the rooms are very clean. Janet is helpful and kind, as the other hosts and guests I met in the house. Really positive experience!
Very friendly people living there. Janet is very kind and her husband is very kind and handsome. The place is very calm and the transport with bus is very furnished. The underground station is 10min closed and frequent.
The room is very clean and you can cook as you want and this is very useful if you want to eat on your own.
Hi. Staying at Janet's home is always a pleasure. It's clean, comfortable, silent.. and it's a perfect place where to start your visit to London. There are good pubs and markets at walking distance.
My thanks to Janet and all her family. see u next time )
I am very thankful to Janet: it was a pleasure to stay at her flat. It was clean, comfortable, quiet. After long days in the city, I had evenings full of rest. Anytime back in London, Janet´s flat will be my first choice.
Nice room, quiet neighborhood, which felt safe when walking home in the dark. Close to public transport, and quick and convenient into London Bridge. I was mostly out of the house, so only met Janet and her husband on the first evening, but they were very welcoming.
Only negative was the bed was a little squeaky (but very comfy!).
