Unfortunately Santiago's apartment block was not complete by the time we arrived. However Santiago had kept us in the loop throughout the lead up to our stay (as well as recommending things to do and answering any questions we had) and had arranged for us to be in another apartment block on the complex which was very similar in design to his but would be less noisy whilst the remaining work was being completed. The complex itself is perfectly located just a 10 min walk to fisherman's village and the amenities on site were excellent; well equipped gym, gorgeous pool, 24hr shop, bar/cafe and a reception happy to arrange taxi's whenever you need them. The apartment we stayed in was beautifully decorated and very spacious. Being self-catering, the apartments aren't serviced but this can be arranged at a cost should you wish, however there was a washing machine in the apartment should you prefer to do this yourself. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the complex, this particular style of condo and the host to anyone looking for the luxuries of home twinned with the charm of Thailand and Koh Samui. We will definitely be heading back to The Replay when the entire complex is finished, hopefully staying in Santiago's apartment next time! :)
I stayed at Santiago's apartment from 30th December to 6th January. Prior to my arrival Santiago contacted me to advise the developers for this complex would be doing work in the apartment next to his and it may get noisy and he had contacted the Complex Manager (Tawan) and arranged for him to place us in another apartment in another block and asked for the same quality of apartment and to also waive all charges that would normally be incurred as we were his guests.
The apartment we were put in was great, not as luxurious as Santiago's, but it was still nice, we had a sea view and it was clean and spacious. The pool is nice to come back to as well as it was lovely and cool. There is a 24hr 7 Eleven next door which came in handy for little bits and pieces, as well as an ATM.
We rented a car which was great forgetting around the island and not having to wait on buses, shuttles or taxis, as you get to pop out and about as you wish and just go where-ever you want to go, put it this way you cant get lost, it only takes 1.5hrs to get round the whole island. Highly recommend Meanam Beach I think its called, also Lamai was nice as well. Fishermans Village is very close and has some beautiful restaurants, would recommend you try Classico's and also a Steak Restaurant there, cant remember the name of it. After having a car and getting around, I realised that we had the best location on Koh Samui, Bophut is a far better location, Chaweng Beach wasnt far away, but more for the young party animals. Friday night markets at Fishermans Village is a must, lots of great bargains from the stalls and I loved the banana pancakes, there are also alot of nice restaurants and bars in this village and you really dont need to eat or drink anywhere
Santiago is an honest and trustworthy host who keeps in regular contact and will look after you. I will be coming back when funds allow me to. Oh yes, 1 more thing "New Years in Fishermans Village is a night to remember" we loved it and am sure you wont be disappointed either.
Santiagos friends were wonderful guests, friendly, considerate and very tidy. Would love to host them again.
