Cooking, traveling to new places. We are a young couple living in a beautiful home by the side of Loch Awe. We have 2 lovely cats that are no trouble at all

We spent two nights in september 2013 at Demelza and Leon's house. We arrived in a little paradise, welcomed by two wonderful people. I had an amazing amount of fun during my two-week stay above Loch Awe with Leon, while Demelza worked on a job in southern England. Half the nights Leon cooked dinner, a fine cook. In the morning I ate breakfast while gazing out over the loch. The last night Demelza returned and hosted a barbecue.
Leon has an engaging personality, quick to take a new idea and explore ramifications. Demelza too is interested in many subjects, and is a professional brand manager for food manufacturers.
This region has the heaviest concentration of cairns, hill forts, cup-and-ring stones, menhirs, standing stones, and other Bronze Age mementos of anywhere in Scotland, plus the usual assortment of castles, so every day was a trip to another fabulous site. The nearest town, Kilmartin, has a first-class museum and cafe, and a cemetery that goes back to 700 AD.
My room was warm and comfy, good internet, everything needed in a kitchen, good shower. I got a lot of writing done. No TV.
Loch Awe is noted for its brown trout, which can reach 30 pounds. The nearest pub on the loch serves dinner, and decorates the walls with these monstrous stuffed trout.
The prevailing wind carries moisture from the Gulf Stream to the mountains, which condenses out as warm rain or a kind of heavy dew called sirimiri in Bilbao, followed by a break. I carried a raincoat, never needed an umbrella. The locals just ignore it.
Trees - think of the Pacific Northwest, a British Columbian rain forest, mostly Scots pine but plenty of hardwoods, that blanket the mountains. Weeds and flowers grow six feet high along the sides of the road, block the view if not trimmed.
Not too many people. "I have the smallest farm in the area," a farmer told me, "only 4000 acres."
One day I checked out a tour boat operation that looks for seals and eagles, but they were full, and I never went back. About an hour away are several different ferries to nearby islands, including Oban, where cruise ships dock,
Very nice, funny and welcoming couple, we had a great stay and we really feel like home! Very friendly. The breakfast was very good and they even provide fresh food from the garden. The location is magic near the loch Awe and very quiet. The diner around the fire in the garden was fantastic.
5 stars! And if I could give a sixth, I would. Wonderful place and wonderful hosts, and a gorgeous place in the world to be, so this gets a massive thumbs up from me.
Leona and Demelza are perfect partners who kept us comfortable during our stay. Leon took us for a walk to the hillside water falls and Demelza made us puddings and drinks. We had an awesome campfire dinner ;) This place is located near LochGilphead with lake facing rooms in a cosy set up. I strongly recommend this place to anyone who needs a break from city life and am sure you will be rejuvenated!
We had a very quick stay but it was fantastic. A lovely place. Nice and warm on a wet rainy night. Demelza was away but her partner was a great host. And breakfast in the morning was fabulous. Wish we coul dhave stayed some more time there than just the one night.
We had a wonderful weekend. Demelza and Leon were great hosts.
Beautiful location/house. And a perfect base to explore the highlands from. Definitely be using this pad again.
It was a real pleasure to have Demelza as a guest. She was so easy to get on with, friendly & straightforward. I'd welcome her back.
We loved having Demelza to stay! She is such a positive, charming, honest and friendly guest. We had the pleasure of welcoming her to Edinburgh for the 3rd time this year and would very much recommend her to all airbnb hosts out there. A truly great and interesting person!
Demelza has stayed with us on a number of occasions and never ceases to be a polite, well mannered, exceptionally interesting and very respectful guest. She stayed with us for a short time this time and left our home exceptionally tidy and well ordered. A fantastic communicator and time keeper - highly recommended!
Demelza and Leon are very friendly and left the apartment very clean, communication was easy. It was great to be their host! Definitely a couple I can recommend as guests!
We hosted Demelza and Leon on our houseboat. They are the perfect guests: friendly, easy to talk and in for unexpected happenings like a parties or climbing the highest fire ladder of the Amsterdam fire brigade. I recommend them to every host.
A wonderful guest to host great communication arrived punctually keeping us informed on the day and left the apartment in very good shape. Basrd on our experience we would not hesitate to recomend or welcome again in the future.

Demelza stayed with us for almost a week in Edinburgh. She was a positive, polite and very well mannered guest, with exceptional communication skills and brilliant time keeping. We very much hope to host her again and cannot recommend her enough to other hosts.
demelza and her friend leon are the most open, kind and easy going sweethearts and travelers, exactly the kind of guest you would wish to share your place with. expressing their love for LA MAISON, it's space, food and staff has been very encouraging. we had the chance to meet briefly and share some time and i am looking forward to welcome them for one more night at LA MAISON on their way back from exploring the country before going back home. it was a pleasure meeting them, they are welcome at LA MAISON at all times.
Damelza and Leon were very nice and took very good care of my appartment. I loved them staying in my appartment. I would highly recommend them as guests.
They left card with wishes it was very nice. Thank you!
I would highly recommend a stay at Demelza and Leon's beautiful, homely cottage. They are both friendly, welcoming and interesting people, who are great cooks. Argyll is a stunning area, you definitely won't regret keeping a day or two free on your itinerary for a visit.
Demelza and I have worked together, making puddings, cooking at food festivals and recently training local ladies in modern cookery methods and food hygiene in South Sudan.
I am always happy to welcome Demelza and Leon to my home when I can drag them away from beautiful Eredine. They are both interesting and entertaining, hungry for knowledge, hungry for good food and very capable cooks. They are fun to be around and great guests as well as hosts. If you need a little loch side retreat away from the noise of the city, visit their lovely garden room.
