I continue to struggle with John's conclusions surrounding our stay. We have always been extremely grateful for the opportunity to share peoples homes, and for that reason have always done our best to honor whatever wishes owners might have regarding their homes. Our many years of being a part of this community, we believe, are a testament to this. I am personally offended and have never experienced such accusations, I am at a loss as to how to address it. At this point it is Johns word against mine, so there is little point in hoping to clear it up. I guess my only option is to address his accusations with my version of events.
Johns rules were clear, we understood, and followed them at all times. The accusation that we had a party at any time is just untrue.
Friday we arrived at 5pm, we all left the house at 9, my partner and I, with our four year old, returned around 11 and went to sleep. The other three returned at around 1am and were quite as to not wake us. In fact John woke us at 2 am returning a phone call I had made 10 hours earlier regarding the apartments location. He seemed amused by my question, and at no point mentioned any complaint, party or smoking. His comments on our "drinking" seems to have a rather judgmental tone, a six pack, drank among 4 adults on a Friday evening hardly constitutes a party, being 7 months pregnant I was not drinking.
Saturday we were out all day, in the evening we left the apartment by 11pm, the only people in the apartment were our sleeping child with one adult, we returned later, quietly as to not wake our daughter. We had one member of our party that smoked and he did so out on the back step as requested by John.
Not withstanding these accusations we still offered to pay what ever fees he felt appropriate in order to address any of his needs. We received no response and instead John decided to leave a slanderous and condescending review two weeks later. We are sincerely disappointed and tried to rectify it but John decided to take a different track.
