Akedah was very responsive to our initial inquiry and remained communicative throughout the planning process as well as stay. I had booked this apartment on behalf of one of our employees who stayed for 13 days. Akedah went above and beyond to make sure that she was comfortable and that everything went smoothly. Highly recommended!
Really nice and clean apartment in a quiet neighborhood. Akedah is very kind and straightforward! I recommend the reasonably priced place in all ways for one or two persons. Thank you Akedah for your hosting!
We had such a wonderful trip in NY! What made our stay the most comfortable was having Akedah as our host. Her apartment was cozy, clean, and conveniently located between all the major subway lines. Quirky neighborhood too, with so much to explore in and around the area. She was extremely sweet, super accommodating, and consistently checked in with us to make sure we had all we needed. As a first time air bnb-er, I hope the rest of the hosts I come across are this awesome.
In a nutshell, I'd say the apartment is OK, but the host not so much.
The check-in was chaotic, appointed at first pretty late (set at 6pm), being rescheduled 40 minutes prior to arrival to 8.30pm and since I had an appointment for that time, I ended up taking a taxi and checking in at 2.30am of the next day. No refund for that day not spent in the apartment was offered by the host.
The kitchen doesn't have utensils to cook, and the only cutlery were plastic knives and forks. The only place to store clothes is a shelf above a computer, the rest of the closets are stuffed with things (there was even a full suitcase lying around in the living room). In my case, it was not enough and I had to leave half my stuff in my suitcase for the entire stay. I messaged Akedah several times about these issues but she answered Airbnb policies didn't state those were mandatory. I talked to Airbnb support and they told me otherwise, compensating me with a coupon (thanks guys!).
In general, the apartment was very clean, except for the floor which had tiny plastic and metallic thing lying around that would hurt my feet when walking without shoes, I swiped it. Besides that, only the kitchen drawers were dirty (very sticky). The rest was very clean.
I feel Akedah could and probably had done better, but this was not my case. For example, she repeatedly told me she would send me check-in and tourist information to my email, but she never did, nor did she check if I had received it.
Besides all that, the apartment is nice: Akedah provided towels and sheets, shampoo and conditioner, and even candles! We enjoyed those. She has lots of books and nice ornaments.
The neighborhood (despite what others might tell you) is very nice and safe, and I've been told it's slowly becoming trendier (there's a nice small Cafe by the C train station, down Kingston Ave.).
The apartment is generally very quiet, except when someone upstair walks, the upper floor creaks a lot. A lot, really. That usually happens in the mornings and afternoons.
So, to sum it up, I'd say my experience was fair, and that Akedah can make an awesome job if she focuses a little more on the guest's experience. The apartment is not amazing, but it's a very good price/size ratio.
I truly believe reviewing stays can really help both guests and hosts have a better experience, so there you are!
Akedah was extremely welcoming. She was great at communicating with me and my guest and worked around our schedule so that she could be as accommodating as possible. Because of her kindness I would definitely refer place.
Akedah's place was neat, clean, modern and just what I needed. She couldn't have been more hospitable given my last minute crisis. The neighborhood is safe and diverse.

Our stay at Akedah's place was wonderful. We were very close to food, groceries, and entertainment here. We loved the atmosphere she created in her apartment! Check-in and check-out were also a breeze. If we visit Brooklyn again, we'd most definitely consider staying here again!
