Joanne's apartment was cosy and nice place.
The neighborhood is perfect, really centrally located, we didnt take any transports to visit the city.
Joanne and Madja were available in case of any questions and have prepared a map with great places to go.
Great experience, my first one, and I totally recommend these place!
Joanne and Madja were great hosts and I would definitely recommend the apartment for folks coming to Toronto. Particularly for a longer stay, it was great to have a home base where I could cook and relax during my trip.
The location was very good and I really appreciated the info my hosts gave me about restaurants and shops nearby and in Kensington Market.
This place was just what we needed for a long weekend in Toronto. Right in Kensington Market, the best part of a great city. Hidden little courtyard right off Spadina. It's close to everything you need -- coffee shop half a block away and about 100 food options within two blocks. We didn't use the kitchen, spent most of the weekend exploring the area, including food.
Be aware that this is a basement apartment, luckily neither of us is tall.
It's definitely a great value for money when you get a cosy little apartment tucked into probably the most convenient location in Toronto. It's a blink away from Kensington Market and just a short walk to the heart of town. There's plenty of affordable eateries around and Joanne was even sweet enough to mark down a few of her favorite places that greeted me on a map she printed prior to my arrival.
She made every detail of my stay in the apartment painless. AWESOME HOST. Staying here left me feeling like Toronto was home for a brief period. Thanks guys!
This apartment is excellent value in a great location – close to downtown and great restaurants and stores. It was also very quiet with no traffic or other occupant noise. I would definitely stay here again.
As others have noted the clearance (6 feet in some places) may be an issue for taller people. Access is from a back lane off Spadina but it is well lit and I felt safe at all times (even when returning very late). Not having a sitting area could also be an issue for people spending a lot of time in the apartment. Still a great value and well appointed.
As other reviewers have commented ... great service, GREAT location (I walked to every meeting), clean and easy. Would stay here again.
This is a very cute and cozy space. Nice to come "home" to after exploring all day. Centrally located in the middle of Kensington Market, we were able to walk pretty much any place we needed to go. We were provided a list of local places that were recommended, within walking distance, as well as a map of the area, which was quite helpful. There is an affordable parking garage right across the street where we parked all weekend without any problems. I would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Toronto!
My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed our stay here. Kensington market is an awesome place! Right outside the apartment door you have access to really cool artsy shops, fresh produce, nice little restaurants (for any meal of the day), and a genuinely interesting interesting bohemian vibe. We drove in from Detroit, and parking was a breeze as there was an affordable public structure less than a block away (cost me $35 to park for four days, try getting that in Chicago or NY). I parked and left my car there all weekend without any problems. Public transit was also right outside, although being so centrally located we opted to walk most of our trip. This was our first time using airbnb, so I'm not sure if this is standard but the whole apartment experience felt quite hospitable, much like a hotel. Check in/out was painless and convenient. Everything we needed to cook our own food was provided (dishes, silverware, cookware, etc) although we ended up eating out every day (great variety of food nearby). Bathroom came with towels, although one thing of note was there was only one roll of TP when we got there. No big deal, probably was just overlooked by mistake. As others have said, since this is a basement apartment the ceilings were a little low. Anyone taller than 6ft will have to duck in certain spots, but I didn't find it to be a pain.
All in all, this was a great place to stay. Much cheaper than a hotel and a far superior location for anyone interested in staying in the middle of a hip neighborhood. They were very helpful by taping to our door a list of adjacent businesses/restaurants that they like, which this being our first trip to Toronto we appreciated. The provided space heater was great for drying our shoes after a night out (it rained pretty hard our first night). Would definitely recommend.
Appartement très propre et fonctionnel. Joanne est très sympathique et très discrète.
Idéal pour proximité départ bus pour les chutes du Niagara
Je recommande !
Great location - in the midst of it all, whilst being quiet.
You have to walk through an alleyway that for some people might not feel very safe - but I do believe it is.
The apartment itself I think is quite new, it still smelled like paint in the bed room. The kitchen has everything you need to stay here for longer, but.......
only if you are not taller than 1.7 meters; the apartment is really low. I am 1.86m and had maybe 10 cm to spare at its highest point, but hit my head a few time at the lowest points.
There was no ironing board available, which is not very handy for a business traveller like myself.
Joanne and her partner were my first ever airbnb guests and it was an overall lovely experience. They are very interesting, respectful and easy to get along with. I would host them again anytime.
Quiet, respectful guest
