We are an early-50s couple, very well-travelled, and we live in this beautiful large Edwardian house overlooking Dublin Bay and which we would love to share with visitors from all over the world!
We loved our stay here! The O'Connell's have a beautiful, warm and cozy house close to the city center. We were very comfortable here. Joan's breakfasts are to die for! We are still thinking about them! It was really great that there were a ton of Dublin guidebooks available to use during our stay. We will definitely come back next time we are in Ireland! Highly recommended!!!
We had a wonderful weekend at Greg and Joan’s home. Beautifully decorated and renovated, multi-level house with the ensuite bedroom in the back. Welcoming hosts with local advice, shared travel stories and great food (big Irish breakfast - Joan is a former caterer). A respite from busy downtown Dublin with a charming village center only a 15 minute stroll away (we dined here two nights) and a short walk to St Anne's Park and its rose gardens (part of the formal Guinness estate). Purchased a 72 hour bus pass and ventured in and out of downtown with no issues. Would recommend if you are looking for a ‘home’ stay.
Greg and Joan were and absolute joy to stay with. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed hanging out with them and having tea after we arrived. They also made us breakfast in the morning which was sweet of Joan! Their house has great vibes and is pretty darn classy! As for accessibility - there is a bus from downtown which drops you off at their front door. I highly advise staying with Greg and Joan if you get the notion! They're great people and next time I'm back in Dublin I'll be sure to look them up!
A fabulous stay at a fabulous location. We are old hands in Dublin dating back to 1972 (for me) and even further back for Katherine. In the 70's I lived in digs in Harold's Cross and on the Royal Canal, and we always had a family place to stay in Drumcondra until this trip (March 2012), so this was our need for the Hotel and B 'n B circuit in Dublin. Katherine searched out many options and we settled on Joan and Greg's place. We are Very Glad we did.
As Genevieve said, Joan and Greg were welcoming from the first to the last second of our stay; the room & bathroom were impeccable and the bed very comfortable. The bus stop was very close to the front of the house and it's an easy and entertaining 20 min ride to downtown Dublin. The food was delicious too!
Walks out Bull Wall to Bull Island and to the large but exquisite St. Anne's Park were easy delights, and we will definitely try to stay there again on future trips.
We couldn't had a better stay in Dublin!
Joan & Greg were so welcoming since the first until the last second of our stay! The room & bathroom was impeccable and the bed SO comfortable. The bus stop was right in front of the house and it's an easy 20 min ride to the downtown Dublin. The food was delicious too! Thanks Joan & Greg! xx
