Although I didn't have the opportunity to meet Glenn in person, he was very open and communicative as a host even as he was traveling abroad. The apartment is conveniently located in Chelsea, everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. The bed was clean and super comfortable. Super awesome hot water / shower pressure. The lock was a little tricky for me to get the hang of, but I think that says more about me than the lock. (; There was a loud TV watcher somewhere nearby, but didnt last too late, and the neighborhood was pretty quiet for the city if street noise/honking is a concern of yours. I'd definitely stay again. Thanks Glenn for your trust and hospitality!
This Airbnb in Chelsea was great! My trip to NYC was to travel with my little sister for her first visit there. We choose Chelsea because of its convenient location. Glenn was extremely responsive before our visit, during and after. My sister ended up arriving there before I could get there and Glenn was able to provide us places she could sit-tight safely and enjoyably before my arrival.
The place is identical to the pictures shown - very clean and posh. The bed was by far the most comfortable bed both my sister and I have ever sleep in. The place was well heated and also quiet.
We both really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you again Glenn!
I did not personally have the pleasure of meeting Glenn, but I wish I had. The apt is as advertised, a studio in the heart of Chelsea. The building is on a nice residential street, but the apartments are probably some of the smaller on the street. Glenn's is well cared for and decorated. The bedding was great! I asked him where he bought his sheets they were so comfortable. For a small place, it is nicely done. And it is clean. Glenn was very responsive to any of my questions and accommodating when my flight was late and then I had to negotiate rush hour traffic from JFK in a hired airport van. !!! oy!!! He finally left me the key with instructions on how to get into the bldg and apt. He trusted me. I trusted him.
My husband and I spent the Thanksgiving holiday in NYC. We chose Glenn's place because of its location. The location is very convenient (close to the subway, restaurants, and Starbucks!). The apartment is nicely decorated and very clean. Everything we needed was in the apartment, making our stay that much more comfortable. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend Glenn's place. On another note, Glenn made himself easily accessible via text to answer any of our "touristy" questions.
Quiet neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from the A-C-E subway line. Apartment cozy and very well-maintained. Comfy bed. The evening of our arrival, Glenn texted me regarding directions and how to find the keys -- even included a brief video clip. Most helpful for a couple of weary out-of-towners anxious about dying phones. Never met him but he kept in touch without being intrusive. I highly recommend anyone to check this out.
Glenn is a fantastic host and I loved this apartment! So comfortable and centrally located. Chelsea has a great vibe day and night.
First of all, Glenn is a terrific host. This was my first time of using airbnb and he made it all very smooth and nice. He is very responsive and always polite and available to answer any question.
The apt was clean and it is in Manhattan, which is good. There is wifi. Having said that, there are a few differences from staying in hotels, that I had not quite anticipated. (This was my first airbnb experience.) First of all, you are living off your suitcase, i.e. there is no closet space. The bed was good, but it is not a hotel bed. The bathroom was clean but not furnished like a hotel bathroom. I slipped in the bathtub while showering for example, because home bathtubs are not specified with the same level of safety as in a hotel. For a person with two ACL incidents, that can be quite painful. The rest of the building was also not up to same standards as Glenn has for his apt, i.e. it was quite old and dirty.
Mind you, I do stay in 4 star hotels and resorts, so my standards are probably higher than most people's. If you want just a basic place to stay for a business trip, which is what I needed (just sleep for a few hours) this is probably good enough. I would not recommend it for a vacation or for more than 3 days, but everyone's standard is different.
All in all, I had a pleasant experience, though not overwhelming. Interacting with Glenn was the best part of it. I will try airbnb a couple more times before I make up my mind about it (airbnb.)
I suggest staying at hotels better equipped for your ACL handicap, or mentioning this to me prior to check-in. I would've informed you that my place was not set up for your special needs.
Glenn was helpful and responsive to any requests. The studio is a good value--small, but well appointed and in a great location. I recommend for solo travelers or a couple.
Glenn's place was the best find in new york! super convenient, super comfy and superbly located in the heart of manhattan. it has this window that opens to the escape stairs overlooking green backyards, true new yorker feeling. i love everything about the place, if only i could stay longer!
Glenn was amazing with responses and hospitality. His place was exactly as advertised and the location is near everything you need. I would gladly stay again here in the future
