Valter, Thank you so much for opening your home to us. Our stay was most comfortable & we enjoyed our visit to Rome. I hope to visit Rome some time soon & will definitely love to stay at your place.
For fellow travelers...
All'ombra is very very close to the Vatican & St.Peters Square; just a minute's walk away. The bus stop is near the apartment building & Bus #64 take you all over the city so transportation is not a problem at all.
All I can say is... Wow! What a great place to stay! I wandered the city during the day and eve, and when it was time to turn in for the night, Valter's place was the perfect room to come home to. Safe, secure and quiet and dry ( I went in November), I was able rest up for another day of adventure!
Chiara and her boyfriend, Glauco were very helpful and always a joy to see. Communication was never a problem even though I don't speak but a few words of Italian! We communicated just great! Chiara made sure I had everything I needed too, (thanks for the clothes drying rack!!!) Great advice if I ever had any questions.. and I sure did!
Great location, just moments from the Vatican, I walked under the giant columns every day and eve to and from Valter's place. What a joy to do that!
I was worried about transportation to and from the Airport: Chiara and Valter arranged a Taxi-cab for me and it worked great, totally stress free.
On my seventh day, I finally got the technique down on how to use the three different keys, and then it was time to leave!
Safety was never a concern at this place and I enjoyed figuring out Old World European locks, Hahaha!! Quite different than what I am used to in America.
Staying at this place was a joy and a blessing and when I come back sometime later in life, I'll be looking to see if Valter and his family can accommodate me again!!! Thank you!!! - Marty
i had a great time at valter's b&b! i didn't meet valter personally, but his lovely daughter chiara made sure my stay went as smoothly as possible. she was always in a good mood and happy to answer any questions. i certainly enjoyed the conversations we had whenever we bumped into each other! the room itself is pretty large and comes with a comfortable bed, while the private bathroom is separate and rather small). the location is hard to beat if you'd like to explore the vatican and its surrounding sights (such as castel sant'angelo which is fairly close, too), there are numerous buses less than a minute away that take you right into the center. also, there are many restaurants in this area, of which "la vittoria" (right next door) really stood out with its excellent, yet affordable food. in short, i can only recommend staying at this wonderful b&b!
Our stay at the AL Cupolone was wonderful and is ideally located to get around to all landmarks.
On landing, Valter was kind enough to inform us of the best route to get to our destination. Following this, his daughter Chiara picked us up in St. Peters square.
Chiara was a great host and made sure we were comfortable. She quickly got us up to speed with the best spots and restaurants about town.
I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again when next in the eternal city.
Thank you very much Valter and Chiara for a lovely welcome to Rome. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay for three nights at this venue. The room was comfortable and clean with it's own private bathroom. It was cosy to return to after a full day of sightseeing.
Chiara welcomed us and spent time orientating us to everything we needed to know- buses, trains, places to eat. She took us for a welcome coffee at the local cafe where our daily breakfast vouchers were (website hidden). Peter's square is very near by and the buses are just outside the building. The metro is a 15min walk past St Peter's Square.
This was a central location without being too busy.
The atmosphere was perfect and we were central to everything.
Our hosts were very kind and helpful.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this B&B and the location and definitely recommend it for a stay in Rome. Thanks Rosa
I had a lovely time staying with Chiara, Francesco's daughter. The apartment was very cozy and clean, and my room was spacious, with a big comfortable bed, and a view of St. Peter's dome across the street.
All the amenities and wi-fi worked great (and the A/C, which was much appreciated in the hot month of July!)
Chiara was a very friendly and gracious host. We went out to dinner and a passeggiata my last evening in Rome, and I also had the opportunity to meet Valter, and he treated me to a caffe' at the bar downstairs (which is also where I had a yummy breakfast every morning).
Since it's only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, I had the opportunity of being one of the first visitors to St. Peter's early in the morning, and climbed the dome to watch the city wake up. It was also lovely walking home at night, and getting to see the glory of Bernini's columns illuminated under the night sky, with hardly a soul in sight.
I love to travel and stay off the beaten path, so if you want to visit Rome, enjoy personal attention and soak up the local flavor away from the tourist crowds, I would highly recommend Al Cupolone B&B.
Grazie per tutto, Valter e Chiara! Spero che ci vediamo ancora presto.
Valter was a great host. He was at the property to meet me, and helped me with the transportation through Rome. The property is well located, and very close to the Vatican as advertised. I really don't think one could stay closer to St. Peter's. He responded quickly to my communications. This property is a shared room situation. The room has an in suite bathroom, and I never saw the other inhabitants.
Valter and Chiara open their family home and are so warm and welcoming! It was extremely hot the day I arrived so Valter bought some juice and gave it to me. The room I stayed in was quite spacious and clean and cool (thanks to an AC they provide in the room). It was my 4th trip to Rome and what felt like my most authentic experience. My window looked out onto St. Peter's square and the Pope's window. It was literally a direct 4 minute walk from my door to the Vatican. AMAZING! Breakfast was provided at the bar directly below the apartment and was a good start to the day! You should definitely consider staying here.
