Franco-Irish couple living near Bordeaux. I'm originaly from Paris, I lived in Ireland for 18 years before moving back to France with my Irish husband Ian.
We were travelling through France for our second anniversary and wanted somewhere close to Bordeaux without being in the city. Onze le Bourg was perfect! Our hosts Tanie and Ian made our stay one of our favourites on our entire trip. The B&B was extremely well taken care of and in a beautiful setting.
We shared a bottle of wine with Tanie and Ian and it was very welcoming.
Tanie and Ian are excellent hosts and we would recommend staying here to anyone. If we go back to the area, this would be one of our stops!
Go to Le Phileas Fogg. The food is amazing and only down the road!
Wonderful place and hosts!
We stayed at Onze Le Bourg for 3 days, using it as a base while we explored the Bordeaux area. Tanie and Ian were very gracious hosts and full of helpful advice on where to go and what to see. Each morning we reviewed our route on Tanie's computer to figure out the best routing and cheaper option for roads ( tolls on major routes). Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants and juice /coffee/tea. As we had been on the road for awhile, Tanie even offered us the use of her laundry facilities. The area we were in was out in the country about 30-40 minutes by car from Bordeaux. We enjoyed the quiet of the countryside after spending the day in the city. The bedroom was very spacious with high ceilings, comfortable mattress, clean sheets etc. We slept well even getting use to the morning wake up call of the local rooster and the 7 am church bells. They also have a nice common room to relax after a busy day. The wine glasses were left each night for us to sample our wine purchase of the day!
What a beautiful house and charming hosts.
It was a real pleasure to stay at Tanie and Ian place. They were really nice and helped us find pleasant restaurant. The house is wonderful and the breakfast was really good (with owned made products). It definitely equals a good *** hotel !
Tanie and Ian are fantastic hosts. When choosing to explore Bordeaux. Onze Le Bourg is the place to be.
Our hosts Tanie and Ian, have created a wonderful
atmosphere with their B&B - and as shown in the pictures that pool is
as amazing as it looks! We're not sure if this is standard treatment -
seeing as we were on our honeymoon - but Tanie brought us champagne while we were in the pool. Their large garden is also stunning to walk in!
The room was great, super comfortable and roomy with awesome ceiling height! High-quality bedding was superb and views out of the three windows in our room offered a sublime French country (email hidden)ly rooster on a neighbouring property and the town church bells in the morning and evening added to the authentic and charming experience.
Tanie & Ian also offer up a big room on the ground floor with a big TV
and lots of DVDs which were available but we didn't feel the need to
use. Most importantly the breakfast was amazing!!! Every morning we
came out to the garden where we were presented with a feast at our own breakfast table on the patio overlooking the garden - fresh pastries,
a homemade treat such as banana bread or granola squares, yogurt,
fresh fruit, and as much good coffee as we could drink. It kept us
going until dinner and was the best breakfast we've ever had at a B&B.
At the end of our stay Tanie was super helpful to let us know how to
avoid traffic on the way to our next destination and what stops would
be interesting for us. We can't recommend Onze Le Bourg enough!
We had a wonderful five days spent with Tanie and Ian at Onze Le Bourg. They made us feel incredibly welcome and were always glad to give advice on places to visit and things to do, as well as helping us out with restaurant reservations. The breakfasts on the terrace each morning were delicious too.
I can't recommend this place highly enough - the house is beautiful and it's very well situated for exploring the wine country as well as the coastal/estuary area and Bordeaux itself. The local restaurant is well worth a visit, serving a twist on classic French cuisine.
We came away having had a very enjoyable holiday and much-needed rest!
Very nice and friendly persons, we spend a lovely evening talking with them and shared a delicious breakfast the house very clean spacious and preatty.
