OK so you've booked your flight, now save yourself the long search and just book this place asap! Staying here makes you feel like the luckiest person in the world - how did I get to be here, without being a celebrity billionaire? - kind of feeling. Plus, Paia is an easy walk away, and that's a whole different level of awesome. The shocker is that this house is actually not that expensive. You'll wonder how you could ever vacation anywhere else.
Plumeria village is a great place to stay in Paia. It's a short walk to town, and there's a tiny quiet beach a block away. Never saw more than 10 people there. At the house, you can walk down to the ocean, and see turtles swim by, though it's not a good place to swim. Even though there are 2 other houses that have access to the pool, we never had to share. With its separate side entrance, it really does feel like your own property. Even the cleaning crew was friendly and helpful.
Pros: quiet location, away from the busy tourist areas of Maui. The property is relatively private. Wifi works great.
Cons: not well cleaned. The upper shelves in the bedroom were filthy, the bedside lamp in the bedroom was so dirty you did not want to touch it ( we cleaned both the shelves and lamp ourselves). There was a cockroach in the kitchen glass cabinet. It is a tropical destination I understand, but obviously if the place is cleaned well enough this should have been caught. Shower curtain could be changed and bed sheets seemed worn and old and stained. Towels also looked worn and cheap. Kitchen could have been better stocked.
Beautiful and comfortable little place on the water. A great place to curl up and read but close enough to town and experience local food and shopping.
This is a comfortable home. Excellent view. Lush tropical landscape. Pool and hot tub. We could hear the ocean. Very private and an escape from the tourist filled resorts. Paia is a short walk away. I loved the out door shower.
The Hibiscus sweet is a beautiful place to stay and exactly like the photos.
Overlooks a stunning bay with some great surf - perfect for watching sunsets! We hope to return soon.
We had the most amazing time staying at the Plumeria Villa. My fear in posting this concerns me that it will become more difficult to book in the future!! It's extremely private and romantic - so much so that my boyfriend proposed there! We were beyond thrilled by the place, it's even nicer than the photos depict. Everything is provided, even lovely beach towels, soaps and a few cooking essentials. The view is magnificent and we found we stayed in most nights using the BBQ and enjoying the deck. We loved the outdoor shower and the general layout. You can't really swim out the front of the property as it's a bit rocky, but the closest swimming beach is only about about 100 yards away. The pool is lovely and clean too. Downtown Paia is less than a mile away but we were glad we got a car as the highway is pretty busy. There is a terrific supermarket and the local restaurants are good - Paia Fish Market is a must. Our flight home was at 10pm, but Lia and the cleaning lady were kind enough to let us come back after our day at the beach and use the communal shower before going to the airport. Overall, our stay was perfect and we can't wait to return!
The Hibiscus Suite was private, well-designed, and a few steps from the ocean. We heard people walking around upstairs, but generally we didn't run into anyone else on the property the entire time we were there, making it feel even more private. The constant sound of waves hitting the rocks below was completely soothing and we actually stayed in one entire day to enjoy the environment. There is no direct beach access from the property, so keep that in mind if you're expected to go swimming/snorking/surfing. For all the great things that the Hibiscus Suite offers, we were underwhelmed by the cleanliness when we arrived as well as the limited staples available in the kitchen. The towels and bedding were clean, but the kitchen and bathroom needed to be wiped down. The kitchen didn't have a baking sheet so we made the last bit of aluminum foil stretch the entire week. There was only a small amount of olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic salt available in the pantry. All in all, these are all things that can be fixed and easily overlooked, but for the price we expected the suite to be cleaner and the kitchen to be better stocked. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I'd recommend the Hibiscus Suite to those looking for a non-standard place (its not part of a large condo complex) during their trip, as we were. The short distance to Paia was a definite plus!
The cottage was perfectly located a 15min. walking distance to Paia town, and right on the water. It had all the amenities one could want. Katerina and the team were great in looking after our special requests and responded quickly to any queries. We highly recommend this charming abode and would book it again.
If there were 6 stars to give Katarina and the Ginger Cottage we would. Katarina happened to be at the office by the Cottage when we arrived so we had a nice introduction. By the way she is no longer single:) What started as an innocent introduction turns into a nice friendship. Katarina gave us quick introduction to the Cottage and Paia as whole. Her recommendations were off the charts for restaurants and little coves that we never would have discovered on Maui. She went above and beyond to cater to our every need. The location of the Cottage allowed us to easily access the road to Hana, Back Door way to Kapalua/Lahaina, Big Beach and best of all where to swim with the turtles. The kitchen was totally adequate to prepare fresh fish from Costco and the grille was outstanding. The worst thing that happened to us was the little Gecko droppings in the house. Life on the island does not get any better. Jamie and I want to thank Katarina for a magnificent stay and time we all spent together shooting the breeze. If you choose to stay at a big hotel you are making a big mistake. Ginger Cottage and Katarina Rock!!!!!! We love ya Katarina!!
Katerina was an amazing host. I actually returned to stay at the property a second time during the same trip to Maui because the location and hosting were so top-notch. I've stayed in a number of AirBnB locations around the world, and so far, Katerina was the best host I've had.
