This is definitely a very nice, clean and cozy place to stay. It is in very quiet area , and two miles away from downtown. The host provided more than just a bed that I felt like home. Free WIFI is real fast, parking is always available.
Catherine has a very nice place that is clean and comfortable. Privacy was never an issue and she is always there to help if you need it. I will definitely stay here again if possible.
My experience staying with Catherine was beyond amazing. I am almost tempted not to list all of the sweet touches Catherine had left around, because our stay would have been incredible even without little bowls of fun sized candies, Ghirardelli hot chocolate, and Mardi Gras beads around our (very soft) towels, but those were all definitely in existence. The room is amazing, with great light and a bathtub, and the rest of the house is also really beautiful. I may never stay in a hotel again. Catherine herself was very kind and accommodating. Absolutely recommend!
My stay at Catherine's Mid City Magic was very pleasant. I was visiting for Jazzfest with two others and stayed in the master bedroom. The room was clean and it was very convenient to have two sinks. Catherine had her recommendations for restaurants and also events for the week up on the wall in the kitchen. We checked out a few of those and absolutely loved it. I appreciated that she provided coffee and fruits in the morning! Thanks for having us, Catherine!
My cousin and I stayed in Catherine's 'Twin Dormer' in Mid City for Jazz Fest weekend. If you value affordability in price, quality in accommodations, and courtesy from your host, I don't think you will find a better deal in New Orleans.
Newly built and renovated, the two-story house is in pristine condition. We shared the upstairs of the house with two other 'residents' (and a bathroom with one other). Every resident was respectful of the others' space and needs. In our bedroom, the beds were comfortable and the closet had enough space for our clothes. The room interior is relatively Spartan. There is a dresser in the bedroom (which not visible in the cover photo) that has ample space for clothes.
The kitchen on the first floor serves as a communal eating area. There is a long counter top with chairs. Catherine provides complimentary water, coffee, fruit, and yogurt; there is ample space in the fridge for your own food. Each morning, Catherine writes out interesting events and concerts around town on a white board across from the fridge. There are two other sitting rooms downstairs adjacent to the kitchen, if you want to hang out.
I highly recommend a stay at the Twin Dormer the next time you are in New Orleans.
Catherine's house was absolutely amazing. It is exactly what you see in the pictures. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. It is a duplex so you don't have to worry about privacy. It was in a good neighborhood and the streetcar made transportation accessible to the French quarter and central business district. Catherine was great to talk too and such a great host. When I come back I will definitely be staying with Catherine.
Me and my boyfriend Josh came to town for a John Legend class. Catherine was a great hostess and even provided info about happenings around town. Everything was clean and wonderful! We would definitely like to stay again.
This booking was an excellent choice; we were in New Orleans on business and found staying with Catherine very comfortable, a better alternative to hotels. With the house just a short cab ride to the centre, alternatively is near the streetcar route and in a good neighbourhood.
Catherine keeps a list of things to do up to date, a list of recommended restaurants hangs on the wall and she gave us lots of tips for making the trip as enjoyable as possible.
The bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are clean, modern and well equipped; in the kitchen was tea, coffee, milk etc. and some breakfast food.
I recommend Catherine and would stay there again.
We were worried about parking during jazzfest, but Catherine was right, there was plenty even though we were only 2 blocks from canal street. Catherine has made sure that every guest is well educated on the area and safe with her house rules. This is a shared home so you might be staying with 4 other people. The people we met were great. The home is situated in an area that was great for us. It was about a 15 minutes to the french quarter and about 20 minutes to City Park.
The only "con" I have is that the kitchen is not fully stocked for 6 people. This, no doubt is because it has been newly renovated and will be a thing of the past before someone else stays the night. For anyone who is new to New Orleans, the heat is always around outside. The temperature in the house is in the mid 70s
Catherine was a great host; easy communication, flexible check-in/check-out. The house was easy to find and fairly to close to the action. My boyfriend and I brought our bikes and were able to lock them safely in the backyard. We stayed in the master which had a private en suite bath, cozy and romantic. It's an older two-story duplex that's been nicely re-done. Catherine and her husband live on one side and rent the other. Keep in mind, old houses don't have the best sound insulation, so you do have to be a quiet guest. Other than that, it's a perfect stay!
We loved having Catherine and David here and look forward to seeing them again. They are intelligent, fun, neat and clean, and, perhaps most important for their visit here this time (which coincided with Tom's birthday celebration), flexible and easy-going.
Catherine is an explorer, an adventurer in life! Her interests are unbounded and she is willing to share. All this and still she is a thoughtful guest, appreciative of the moment and considerate of others.
