A great apartment in a great location! The altrano is by far and away the best bet to have an authentic florentine experience. My only gripe is that their were not sheets left for the pull-out and no mention of the 20euro fee for arriving past 8:30pm on the airbnb apartment details (only in a private message). Other than that--easy to navigate, near attractions, and with all necessities for a week away from home!
A great stay in a lovely apartment. I was supposed to stay at the Orchide-apartment on Borgo San Jacopo but due to some problems in the bathroom I was relocated to an apartment on Via Dei Velotto. It was actually a better location for me so I was very pleased. The contact with the host, Patrizia, and her assistant on location was easy and both check in and check out was flexible. A great stay!
Response from Patrizia:
grazie a te Erik!
Ti auguro un buon proseguimento dell'estate!!!
Great apartment, great value in a lovely part of Florence, a bit off the beaten path. The place is well stocked with everything you need for a stay in Florence. I would say the pics do not do the place justice, as I was expecting something smaller and darker. It had plenty of room and the windows open up to nice sunlight. The piazza just down the street is really lovely and has a great cafe and truly the best gelato I have ever tasted (and I have tasted a lot). I highly recommend this apartment! Also, it was easy communicating with Patrizia and her assistant Alessandra. The whole process was very smooth.
The department is ok. And the best thing is the location, half a block from the ponte Vecchio.
We sent a text to Patricia's associate Francesca when we were getting into a taxi at the airport, and she and Alessandra met us at the apartment when we got there. They were very friendly and helpful and the apartment, while small, was everything we could've needed. Exactly as the pictures show except that I think the bed was a little bigger than I expected from the picture. The location of the apartment could not be better. It's seconds from Piazza della Passera, home to the best gelato I have ever had and the most delightful little vegetarian and organic restaurant called 5 e Cinque. It's a hop, skip and a jump from the Ponte Vecchio and all of the tourist sites in one direction, and the Pitti Palace and Boboli gardens in the other. If I ever go back to Florence (unfortunately the boar by the market says I won't!!), I will definitely book Patrizia's apartment again.
Very welle placed in the city
Christina was gracious to check us into the apartment late in the evening. It was a short (15 minute) walk from the SM Novella train station. The apartment was perfect for our needs and only one flight above the street. Our two sons were in the larger bedroom (with 3 beds) and my wife and I shared the matrimonio. Both rooms have windows opening to via d Vellutini which have black out shutters. The window in the kitchen allows flow-through ventilation and each room had a fan, so air conditioning was not necessary even with very warm temperatures outside.
The kitchen is very functional and well equipped. Lounge seating is limited, but we were out and about exploring Firenze for most of the day and evenings so it was not an issue.
The location is wonderful, a three minute walk to Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace. There is a nice little piazza 25 meters away which had live music and a very active local clientele. Also very close is Santo Spirito. I would recommend this for up to five people.
We were thrilled with the location of this apartment. It's just a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio, only half a block from Piazza dells Passera with its wonderful gelato, bars and trattorias, close to groceries and an easy walk to everything else. We also appreciated the air conditioning that kept us comfortable in miserably hot weather, the washing machine and the wonderful shower. The room was nicely decorated but much more cramped than we expected. Our feet hung over the end of the bed; when we turned over in bed we bumped the wall; our knees hit the bidet when using the toilet; and there was not an empty shelf or a single drawer to put our clothes or groceries. We could hang some clothes, but most stayed in our suitcases in the middle of the floor. This space would work best for a short, thin person who planned to spend most of his/her time sightseeing.
Villa Kronberg is a 4 min walk from the gate of the complex and a 20 minute walk to the main Piazza - uphill ! However there is a bus service every 15 minutes, once you work out where the bus stops (not all of them are marked). The villa is very private and has stunning views and you can choose to sit in the sun or in the shade. You must like the sound of Gulls who were squawking 24/7 - maybe because it's the breeding season ?? There was no internet while we were there but hopefully it's coming soon...
The bedroom next to the lounge does not have a door, so is only suitable if a family are sharing. No good if you have 2 adult couples.
There is a charge of €10 for air conditioning but this is only in ONE bedroom. I think it would be essential in mid-summer.
If this is your first visit to Capri, you might find it a little difficult to know where to go from this villa. I had been before so knew how to get into the main part of town and also to/from Marina Grande & Marina Piccolo. Taxi from Marina Grande is €20. A couple of nights we got a taxi back from the Piazza which was €11.
Great accommodation, perfect stay !
