Amy and Sean are amazing hosts and the space is wonderful: we were working on writing projects and found the space to be a great work space as well as a home-away-from-home base for excursions throughout the city. We were in for several days, and constantly discovering creative touches around the apartment (when you find a Lynda Barry book on the shelf, you know you are in a good place).
We came in on late flights, and were warmly greeted by Amy who had saved a parking space for us, cheerfully showed us around the space and made sure that we were settled in -- fresh flowers throughout the rooms and fresh fruit in the well-appointed kitchen, along with coffee and tea to get us going for an early meeting the following day.
The dining room table invites you to have long conversations over a glass of wine or a meal, and the view is indeed amazing from either of the two balconies. The neighborhood has a lot going on for those looking for good food and/or nightlife, but the apartment itself is very peaceful.
Now looking actively for reasons to return to Seattle!
Our stay in this apartment went very well! The key was available via a lock-box and the apartment was ready for us when we arrived. The location is great. There are many restaurants within walking distance. Amy mentioned that the neighborhood can be noisy and provided ear plugs if we wanted to use them, but we were't bothered by any excess noise. Amy provided a detailed notebook with lots of useful information, including a suggestion to visit Volunteer Park, and I headed that way on my morning run. Parking was easy in the spot right next to the house. Finally, we enjoyed our visits with Filthy the cat!
Amy was there for us when another host had to cancel and we scrambled to find a way to salvage part of our planned Seattle trip.
We spent most of the time in this place wondering how we'd lucked out with this décor, these bookshelves, this kitchen, this freaking cat (who is much cleaner and cuter than the name "Filthy" would lead you to believe). And on top of that, the location is so convenient, and Amy was so helpful and responsive — working out the most convenient way to get us in while they were away on a trip, telling us which friends could help us if there was trouble, leaving a binder with so much information. My main regret is that we were only there for a busy few days.
Amy and her partner stayed at my place for two non-consecutive nights during their Vancouver stay. They were communicative by email and left the place spotless when they left. I would welcome them back any time.
Amy and her partner were really nice - they were flexible with their arrival and departure times to accommodate my schedule and left me some really great feedback and notes throughout their stay. Super interesting folks!
