It was wonderful! Christina (email hidden), she picked us up at the railway station and showed us great beaches around there. Without a car its not very good to reach, but she took us along and we went out at night. So we didn´t feel the need of a car. Also she recommended great spots at the coast, we went to all of those places later and every place was just as great as she had described. You can tell by the moment you meet her that she´s a traveller with great interest in other cultures. Thanks for that!
I CANNOT say enough good things about Cristina! Cristina is the friendliest, most open, most caring person you'll ever meet. She has a real passion for Italy and for her region in particular and is so eager to share as much of it with you as possible. It is best to visit Cristina for a long period of time, to profit to the max! Her place is within walking distance of the center and the train station, but if you really like walking -- I do and didn't mind! The bed is a little rickety but I slept like a rock, the bathroom huge, gorgeous terrace in the back, and all the kitchen amenities you might want. She's also an EXCELLENT cook so take her up on her offer for dinner! If you've never heard of Anzio and Nettuno, this is the time to go find out!
You want to have breakfast under a kiwi-tree? You love to relax in a porch swing? You like to watch geese and turkeys in the garden? You enjoy being surrounded by orange-trees, grapes, peaches, apricots and a vegetable patch? You like good company?
Well, then book the (email hidden)!
With Cristina you really get the real Italian experience - it was great! It felt completely different from being a tourist before. She is a lovely and very natural person, a great cook and helpful host. She lent me a bike and she took me on a tour to explore her favorite places and beaches - I'll never forget the swimming among the ruins of an old castello! Thank you, Cristina!
Her house is situated in (email hidden) one hour by train from Rome. There are beaches and shops and a great "forno" (bakery) where you can get Pizza with Nutella :-)
Although Nettuno is a town with everything you need, in Cristinas house you have the impression to be in the country side: From her kitchen window you see her large green garden, in the morning you hear a cock and a goat in the neighborhood.
The room is cool, quiet and clean and has a direct access to the garden.
You reach the train station within 10 minutes by bike and there are trains to Rome every hour. For a trip to Rome I'd always prefer to stay in Nettuno! Not only for the town but also for Cristina's company!!
So, go ahead and get the real Italian experience! :-) You won't regret it!
