I am an artist. My husband, Matthew Wild is a chef. Our son, Pablo Wild is two years old and loving the traveling. We travel a lot, but when we are not we live between Port Douglas, Berlin and London.
This is a great little place in the heart of Port Douglas. It is a bit like a private museum full of paintings, quotes, old-fashion lamps and colourful plates stuck on the wall. Nice to spend some time on the balcony, surrounded by coconut trees and looking at the fruit bats hanging on big gums across the road. Quite, relaxing and very close to the centre of town. And the pool is so refreshing after a sticky day! Only downside is the lack of cooking utensils when you stay with a bigger family and wish to cook instead of eating out...
fantastic house - a wonderful place to spend time and Tina was great - highly recommended!
We had a wonderful and very memorable stay at The Artist's Tree House. It has a wonderful lay out that made it very comfortable for our family giving everyone their own space, but also lots of common areas to all congregate. The unique decorations and design made it extra special and fun to look around. We loved looking out into the trees and the warm breeze that travels through the house. The location was great allowing us to explore the lovely town of Port Douglas, four mile beach, the rainforest, and the great barrier reef! Port Douglas has a great feel to it, and I recommend it over Cairns if you are considering both, as it has a quaint small town feel and less of a big city vibe-but access to the same activities. Thank you for designing this unique house and opening it up for us to stay!
Fun and welcoming house, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. Highly recommended, thank you,Tina
I cannot recommend The Artist Beach House enough!! With 6 adults in our group, finding a property to satisfy everyone's needs was difficult but this place was perfect and we all fell in love with it. It is a gorgeous property, very spacious and really well equipped. The beach was a very short stroll away and the pool was great -we were spoilt for choice!
Prior to our arrival Tina was very helpful in providing extensive information regarding the property and Port Douglas and Kerry was also a great point of contact during our stay.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay in your very beautiful and inspirational home - our holiday would not have been the same had we stayed elsewhere!
I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait for another opportunity to visit!
The “Artist’s Beach House” is absolutely the best place to stay for your Port Douglas Holiday. The house is located in the rainforest, just a 5 minute walk from the four mile beach. The Port Douglas town is about a 30-40 minute walk down Four Mile Beach. The house is located across the road from the Rendevous hotel (5 minute walk), which has a convenient shuttle service and for tours that only pick up from hotels. Kerry was wonderful and greeted us upon arrival. She gave us a brief tour of the beautiful house. The two living rooms are especially nice for big groups. Each floor is spacious with new wooden flooring and modern appliances. The house is both luxurious and “homey”. Tina and Matt are wonderful designers. I would definitely encourage you to spend some time walking around the house and looking at all the different art on the walls. The way Tina arranges the color scheme in the house is spectacular. She has an amazing attention to detail. Every painting and picture on the wall seems carefully placed to match various color themes and furniture around the house. There are several “easter eggs” in the art around the house that we didn’t even notice until the end of our stay which I thought was really cool. (hint: look closely at the Tiki statues!) Each bedroom is unique. The downstairs bedroom near the pool was my favorite. It has an outdoor bed just in front of the room for post-beach naps, a hammock and outdoor shower. The entire house almost feels outside with all of the windows, sliding doors and sunlight. There are high speed ceiling fans all over the house which do a great job of keeping out bugs and the house cool. The kitchen balcony is the ideal place for drinks and dinner. You have a view of the pool, backyard and rainforest that surrounds the property. Each room seems to flow seamlessly into the next. The house truly looks better than the pictures.
One night we went for a midnight swim at Four Mile Beach (careful depending on season), it has amazing star watching and the water was BIOLUMINESCENT! My hands and feet were glowing in the water, and whenever you splashed the water blue sparks would shoot out everywhere. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I think this is a rather rare occurrence in Port Douglas but definitely worth looking for!
Some tips: You may want to bring an eye mask and earplugs if you are a late sleeper. I was woken up each morning by sunlight and exotic birds (in a good way!). Also, check for enough toilet paper when you arrive, we ran out the last night we were there. There are no paper towels provided so don’t forget those.
I highly recommend the Artist’s Beach House for your holiday!
The perfect house- wish our home was like this. The kids went around saying goodbye to every room when we left. We miss it!
The Artist's Cottage is wonderful. Location is great - just a short walk to the beach or into town. The apartment it self is fabulous, beautifully maintained and thoughtfully stocked with everything you might need for a brilliant holiday. All in all, the perfect place to chill out.
The house has been beautiful renovated by Tina and Matt with every detail covered. We found the location perfect being on a quiet street and only a moonwalk away from 4mile beach. I can't recommend this place high enough, we will definitely be back.
Wonderful place! Spacious and fully equipped for a short or long term stay. The location is incredible. I lived in Berlin last year for 7 months and its one of my favorite neighborhoods, a good mix of local people and places and tourist spots. Centrally located next to Ubahn (subway) and strassebahn (trams) stations so its easy to go explore Berlin. Tina and HP were nice and very easy to commicate with. They were flexible about check in and check out times and even provide a guide to the city and many books on Berlin. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Berlin.
Tina and her family were great guests. They took good care of my flat and were appreciative and enjoyed their stay.
Tina, Matt and Paolo are a pleasure to host as they are very considerate and kind. All the communication was very clear and straightforward. They left the apartment very clean and tidy. They even put on the first wash in the washing machine before leaving. I would highly recommend them.
Communicative as Tina is, and reliable as well, it was a pleasant experience to host her little family. And I received nice suggestions for the improvement of future guests' stays.
The apartment was left in a clean and orderly state.
Tina has been a great guest! The communication went very well online and she and her family were on time.
Now here comes the best part: She was the most tidy and clean guest I ever had. She left the place in such a good state I was surprised :) She also gave a great advice about how to give a better service because she has lots of experience herself. All and all i can only conclude : if she books ur place , do not hesitate, cause I definitely recommend her!
I hosted Tina with her husband and their son for few weeks.
Tina and her husband were considerate guests. They took care of the flat and left it spotless upon check out! I was even lucky to see Tina`s exhibition of her art work in Istanbul.
Would hope to see them back one day.
We hosted Tina for 3 nights at our apartment and we would be more than happy to host her again in the future. My friend Toni met her at the apartment. She arrived on time and left the apartment in perfect condition. Moreover she was so kind to spend some time writing a detailed (and positive) review of the apartment. Definitely the perfect guest :)
