Part lingerie/costume designer, Part hula hoop dancing goddess.
I live for good beats and the art of movement.
I loved staying in kaylas apartment, she left me with a great guide to both manhattan and brooklyn!! Eventhough she wasnt there for most of my stay, the few days i spent with her she made me feel completly welcome! And while she was away her other roommates erica and adrain made me completly welcome and i loved every second! They are awesome hosts!!
I am so sorry for the message full of anger that Kayla left on me (who is a great person untill things come to money). It's also untrue : I paid her 600 dollars for one night for compensation. She has her keys. I am a host and guest fo 3 years on airbnb and never had any problem with anybody. I know the value of bedroom and that's why I left this noisy, dark and in the middle of nowhere one. Maybe Kayla should find a job instead of expecting on guest to pay her apartment.
Kayla is a great host. She can be very helpful sometimes. Her apartment is nice if you like the girly style. The small red bedroom I had for a month with a small bed was a bit noisy because of the street. There is no light from the sun at all in the apartment, which make it uneasy to eat at home. This is a weird part of Bed stuy, where there is nothing special to do in the area unless you walk 20 minutes. So I decided to leave before the end of the 2 months I booked and we had long argument. So sad things went this way.
I stayed here for 6 weeks while I was looking for a more permanent housing solution in NYC. The room was clean with fresh sheets upon my arrival; hangers and a dresser were provided for clothing storage.
The apartment is one block from the G line, which was greatly convenient for coming and going, and there are two small deli/grocery stores, a liquor store, and a decent pizza place just downstairs.
The room itself is on the street side of the apartment, and it's really loud. Sirens, buses, and people standing around all night shouting at each other, which was really annoying. I wore earplugs every night and got used to it, but if you're a light sleeper like I am, you will still hear the noise. Also, the stairwell is just outside this room and you can very clearly hear every word and footstep coming from it.
The kitchen and bathroom are fine, no issues with plumbing or appliances. The living room is a good size for hanging out, and the rooftop is a nice place to drink a beer and relax.
Kayla was helpful any time I had questions and often invited me to join her when she was going to meet up with friends, so I would say she was a gracious hostess. Oh, and Tiny the cat is a very sweet boy who will sleep near you and let you love on him from time to time. :)
Overall, because of the amount of noise, I am giving this an average rating. If noise doesn't bother you, then consider this a well-priced place to stay. Enjoy!
You came here to find a place to stay, so let me start with the space.
You will be staying in a very modern looking apartment. Kayla is a very creative fashion designer and her sense of style is well reflected in how the place is decorated.
The room is quite large with plenty of closet space and a nice comfortable bed.
The apartment is well maintained and very clean. If you prefer not to smell, there is a washer and a dryer in the apartment, which seems to be fairly uncommon for New York City.
Aside from being a nice, comfortable and clean living space, this place came with a lot of pretty cool amenities. For instance, a unicorn.. seriously. The only other magical creature that I know of is a super small tiger. Most people think he is a regular sized cat, but his name is Tiny. He's not small for a cat, so he has to be a tiger, right? Either way, he's a fun and friendly animal to hang out with. He didn't even try to eat me, as I first feared. I reason that being tiny, he probably has to hunt tiny game. That and Kayla seemed to feed him pretty regularly.
It's pretty hard to beat magical creatures, but this place also has a rooftop hangout that might as well be magical. It has an amazing view and will definitely put you in a trance. You can see a lot of Manhattan, Brooklyn and believe it or not, the stars look pretty good too; maybe not as good as ocean stars, but impressive for NYC. The sky at sunset is pretty outstanding as well.
The apartment is an easy one block walk to the subway and has several food options right out the front door.
I would highly recommend staying here based on the apartment on it's own, but if you like people, I have more to tell you.
This was my first time using Airbnb, so I didn't know what to expect, but Kayla turned out to be one of the most open and friendly people I have met in New York and I have met a lot of very friendly people.
She is very inviting and inclusive. She is always trying to introduce you to someone or inviting you to hang out on the roof or listen to music. I can't speak for her, but she seems like the type of person that doesn't meet strangers, but rather friends she doesn't know yet.
That being said, if you're anti-social, she's not going to force you to hang out with her either. I get the feeling that she just accepts people as they are. All I can say is that she is a very genuine human being.
So if you want to know a really cool person or if you want to live in a really cool space, you're in luck, because you get both in the same package deal!
Kayla was very nice and made me feel very welcome.
I've had an amazing time during my stay in New York. Kayla's apartment and Kayla herself had a big positive influence. The apartment and the room have all the basic needs. It's clean, the bed is comfortable the room has enhough closet space , the location is next to the g line and a few blocks from the apartment you also have a city bike station (which is the prefect way to travel!)
And of course the host herself: Kayla. She is such a sweatheart, knows everything about New York and espacialy the fun stuff. She is very caring and really tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I can even say that I have met a friend for life! So Kayla hope te see you soon:)
The room is exactly as described, Kayla makes it a point that she's welcoming you to her home not a hotel. She knows a lot about NY and Brooklyn, she had tons of suggestions for things to do especially the trendiest parties that are always happening in Brooklyn.
Kayla is fantastic, very welcoming, laid back, generous, interesting she invited me out for drinks and parties with her friends in many occasion I'm sorry I didn't have more time to hang out.
The house is located close to (5-10 min walk) to G train station. So it is easy to take subway and go to Manhattan. There are few 24 hour dalis downstairs which are very helpful. Although the apartment location is not in the best part of Brooklyn, I felt the neighborhood to be relatively safe while coming back home late in the night even at 2-3am. The building is walkup and apartment is on 3rd floor, which was a challenge for moving luggage during arrival and departure or when you bring groceries.
The size of the room is more like a small office with only bed and a drawer chest inside a closet and for the neighborhood and other competition in the area felt bit pricey, but the bed, pillows, and blanket were very comfortable. I wish we had some cleaning mop in the apartment to clean the floor once in a while. The living room itself is nice big, and the apartment has a laundry, dryer, and cloth iron too. The laundry and dryer is bit of challenge to use it, but it was nice to have them at home. The bedroom windows are good, without them, the street becomes bit noisy during the day and can kill your sleep. The AC in the unit works good, so overall it was a nice stay. The kitchen is minimal, with all basic utensils there, so it was easy to cook. She also provided with fresh towels and sheets, which was nice of her.
There were some issues with the wifi initially, with hardly any signal in the bedroom, but the issue was resolved half way during my stay and after that it had good strength in the apartment.
Kayla herself is very friendly and helpful host. Since I was new in town, I am glad I stayed at her place as she gives a good company with nice conversation or watching movies together. She also knows the area and city well, so she gave me good recommendation. She has a good friend circle, who will come over for dinner once in a while and it was nice to meet other friendly people too.
Oh, there is a cute cat name "tiny" to give you company. so if you are ever board, the cat makes a good too
All in all, I will recommend her place.
This was my first visit to NYC - I'm in love! I felt safe, people were kind when I asked for directions, one day I got several compliments about my shirt just on a short walk to catch the metro. There is a deli grocery shoppe below on the corner, great for grabbing a beer or a quick snack. Catching the G is right down the street at the Myrtle Willoughby station which takes you pretty much anywhere. The room I stayed in was a deal. The bed - sooo comfy, plenty of blankets and pillows. It was clean and orderly upon arrival, hangers for clothes provided. She has a cat named Tiny who is friendly. The flat is right next door to an art exhibit that is under installation and I happened to come across a feature film being shot outside at the crosswalk and a music video another time! This neighborhood is artistically authentic and up and coming. Kayla is very knowledgeable about the area, just ask.
Kayla is friendly, clean, organize, respectful and responsible person. She is very sweet out going with amazing energy, so whether you decide to host her or stay with her, you will have a great time. We know her for many years and we are sure you will enjoy her company.
Ho conosciuto Kaila al Politecnico di Milano, come studente del corso di MOda per il Fashion Institute of Technology. La sua energia, la sua allegria sono davvero travolgenti.
Sarà un piacere per chiunque passare del tempo con lei!
Kayla has been one of my closest, dearest friends for three years. I'm an airbnb host myself, and can fully vouch for her as a kind, considerate, conscientious person - all the qualities you'd want in a host.
But let's talk about the fun stuff: she's also a creative genius, laugh-out loud hilarious, adventurous, and wonderfully warm - and her gorgeous apartment reflects that. I live just a few blocks away, and LOVE our neighborhood. Awesome Mexican, Italian, cafés, you name it. New places springing up all the time.
Great place, great person - you really can't ask for more!
Kayla has such a fun spot. She is a costume designer and always knows great fun places to go. Her place is very clean and near the train not only that but Kayla as a host is Super!!
I used to leave in this apartment and it is absolutely stunning ! Indeed, The living room is very warm and comfortable and there are real good vibes emanating from the place.
Moreover, it is well furnished with laundry and dryer, equipt kitchen as well.
Kayla used to be my roommate and she became a close friend (I am sure the apartment has contributed). We used to walk around the neighborhood, discovering cute places to have a tea or share brunches!
Kayla is fun, sweet and has a great smile she never leaves. She will take care and welcome you perfectly.
Kayla is both a fun loving and caring person, and know she would make an excellent host. Thoughtful and personable, you'll feel right at home at Kayla's, especially someone who's also creatively like minded!
