It's not often I feel obligated to write a negative review. Most of the people that have rented from me in the past have been exceptional guests. However, I will say that Jim and his friends definitely were not exceptional. It started off with difficulty communicating and coordinating the check-in process. Jim was a no-show for several days, when he finally answered me stating he and his friends had a medical emergency in Cuzco. Ok. I asked that he simply notify me when he was to arrive and that I needed a signed rental contract. A couple of days later when he still had not shown up, I wrote again and was told he would probably be there in a couple of days. Knowing that perhaps he may arrive late, I did something I don't normally do and left the keys with the doorman so that he and his friends would at least be able to get in regardless of their arrival. I still had not received the rental contract. Finally the day before the rental period was to end, I decided to call the apartment and lo and behold Jim and his friends were there. No notice, no contract, nothing. I was surprised but at least they made it. We coordinated a checkout time for the next day, and I mentioned checkout was 12pm to which he countered that more time would be welcomed. I gave them til 5pm. At 5pm my associate showed up and was told that they thought they had more time (they somehow had not been given the message from Jim and Jim was gone). They stated they were in the middle of an important on-line Poker tournament! I told them 6pm and as we had other renters coming. At 6pm, my associate returned and the remaining two guests rushed out the door. They didn't stick around for the walkthrough, and we now know why. In three years of renting, we have never seen the apartment is such a dirty state. Half-eaten food all over the apartment, bottles, cans, stains on the chairs, spilled drinks wiped up with towels and bedding, things strewn around the apartment including pages ripped out of a courtesy welcome guide we leave for our guests...a disgrace. Honestly, I rent my HOME and I expect a little consideration from my guests that are staying in my HOME. I wouldn't come into your HOME and disrespect you and your property, but unfortunately Jim and his friends showed no such consideration. I can only caution you against renting to Jim as frankly it was not a pleasant experience.
Thank you for taking care of our property was spotless at check out. It was a great experience having you here. We hope you had a productive trip.
