My wife Anna and I enjoy travelling. Since we met while both volunteers in Papua New Guinea in the 1970s, we have lived on three continents and travelled widely: in Asia, the UK, parts of Europe, the USA and Middle East - as well as Australia (where we now live), New Zealand and the Pacific.
We have three adult sons who are also travellers. One thing we love about travelling is meeting new people - as well as seeing the sights and experiencing different cultures. Generally, we like to stay in smaller, local hotels because they give a much better flavour of the country. We also often stay with friends, as we have many who live scattered around the world - so we are used to being guests in someone's home. We are new to Airbnb (as of early 2012), but it sounds like just our sort of accommodation.
Before retiring (we are in our early 60s), we were both teachers. Our home is in Tasmania, which is a marvellous place to live, but a long way from much of the rest of the world. We enjoy reading, music, swing dancing, kayaking, theatre and (of course) walking - especially wandering around new and interesting places.
