Apartments located near the historic center, but on the hill. It's quiet hard to climb there every day, if you are elderly or pregnant, it can be a challenge.
Apartments is in new building, clean, with big terrace and community pool. Clean rooms.
But i should say that is typical bachelor pad. If you are planning to cook there, you'll be disappointed. Also there are no wifi router, only 3G modem connected to old laptop.
Probably Vador can improve that in the future.
Vador, the host - is a great man, very open and sporty. He drove us to the airport at 3AM (bloody rynair :) at Monday. The hero!
We have stayed for 3 days in the apartment of Vador. The app. is nice located just a few minutes walk from the old centre. We enjoyed the hospitality of Vador as well as his quick responses on our e-mail communications. There is a possibility to use the swimming pool, which belongs to the complex. A nice location for a short trip to Gerona.
We had a wonderful time in Vador's house. The house is nice and really huge. Vador is a very friendly host and gave us hints about some nice spots of l'Escala. Thank you!
This house is very nice! Furniture is beautiful, room, bathroom and kitchen are comfortable.
Home is located in quiet district. Way to the beach takes 10 minutes, way to the center takes 15-20 minutes. Sea in l'Escala is very clear and calm.
Vador gives the map of l'Escala and tells us about interesting places in the town. We spent a good time in this house!
Vador's place is fantastically located about five minutes' walk from the city center. The kitchen and living area are really nice, and it has a really nice view of the city from the terrace. Vador is a really friendly guy. He was going to take me hiking (but I had a schedule conflict, I really wanted to go) and made sure I got some lunch when I arrived.
My biggest complaint was about his lack of clarity regarding internet. Vador said he had a slow internet connection, but didn't tell me that I had to use his computer instead of mine. His computer is a slow 12-year old laptop, so modern online tools like (website hidden) or (website hidden) Maps was really difficult. I recommend that Vador invests in home-wifi for his guests.
I also found the pillow that he provided me to be uncomfortable. I recommend that he provides a more comfortable one.
Vador picked us up from the bus which was very pleasant of him. The house is a typical holiday home near the beach with all the amenities you require. If you do not have a car then there is a lot of walking to be done. It is not actually central to l'Escala but about an hours walk and it's about an hour and forty five minutes to the roman ruins etc.
After a one week stay with my girlfriend at the costa brava we ask ourselves: could there be a better host than vador?
besides all the little somethings he did for us such as pick up from the airport and giving us rides to here and there we got to know him as a friendly, straightforward, and pure catalan. He introduced us to typical catalan food and even took us on a hiking trip along the coast and showed us all the beauty of his country. we are more than happy to have met him. Thanks for everything vador, you made this vacation exceptional!
Other than the good experiences with vador we must say that the little fisherman's village l'Escala is not as little and idyllic as we might have expected. But you can rent yourself some bikes and thus get around and find a bar that meets your requirements or a beach that is not as crowded - just stick with the recommendations of your host!
The house itself is getting on a bit but cosy and has got personality.
The kitchen is well equipped and we could cook our own food whenever we wanted to. After all we had the house for our own for almost all of the time anyway.
When we got tired of all the snorkeling (which is definitely worth it) we took a bus to Girona or Barcelona for day trips.
Altogether we highly recommend to stay at this place!
Response from Vador:
I'll remember you, Sofia and Tobi! I hope one day to see you again! Thank you, friends, for your visit!
Vador's flat was in a great location for exploring Girona, only 5 minutes walk to the city walls with lovely views. It's very comfortable and the swimming pool is brilliant to cool off on a hot day. Vador was a great host- really friendly and relaxed and gave us some amazing tips for restaurants in the town and things to do in the region outside of Girona too. We felt very at home and would definitely recommend this apartment.
Vador is a really cool guy! He is so friendly, he loves music and he is very sportive. If you stay in his place in Girona, he will make you feel at home. He is an amazing host that will provide you with all the information you might need. Besides this, his house in l'Escala is a perfect spot to explore the Costa Brava and Empordà region. Don't miss the opportunity to stay there! :D
