Columbia University PhD Candidate, traveller, blogger.
I am a great host, very clean and tidy and will work hard to make you feel welcome.
The #1 reason why I travel: Meeting new people. I have met some of my best friends abroad!
Favorite city in the world (so far): Budapest. The most beautiful, vibrant, cool, fun city. Amazing architecture, sightseeing and history with a young, hip and artistic night life. You can dance all night and then recover in the amazingly opulent and restorative turkish baths by day.
Most incredible meal ever: Ksar Es Saoussan, Marrakech, Morocco. To reach this magical restaurant you are guided through the maze-like pathways of the medina by a guide. Once you are there are you are welcome to wander through the historic riad before sitting down to a gorgeous 5 course meal. I felt like I had left modernity behind, a truly transformative travel experience.
Worst airport faux pas committed: Fighting with a security guard in Uruguay over cough drops. He insisted they were illegal prescription medication, I tried to mime “store bought cough drops”. We fought. I held up the line. I lost.
One thing I’d never leave home without: my Mulberry clipper!
One song on my travel playlist: Tricky “Hell is Around the Corner.” This song came on the radio on my first night living in Cambridge, England. It started my love-affair with trip hop and I think this and Portishead “Dummy” are probably the most played albums on my iTunes. When I reminisce about living in the UK, Tricky is the soundtrack.
