I had a great experience staying at Christine's apartment for five weeks. Christine and her roommate are both very friendly and kind. For example, I sprained my ankle on my second day in Beijing and her roommate cooked dinner for me so I could stay in the apartment and rest. They are happy to answer any questions I have about where to go in Beijing, where to buy particular items and any questions about China or Chinese culture generally.
The sofa bed is very comfortable and I had just enough space to store my suitcase and belongings at the foot of the bed. Christine gives you a small basket to store things, which came in handy. For the low price you get access to quite a lot of facilities (excluding the kitchen). I really liked having use of their washing machine as it saved me a lot of time from hand-washing all of my clothes. The wifi is fast and reliable. There is also free tea and sometimes fruit. Sometimes Yao or Christine will cook dinner which is pretty tasty and saves you money and time.
The apartment is as described on the airbnb listing except for two things.
1) Christine has a pet cat which is adorable and very playful, but I had cat fur all over my clothes
2) Her roommate sometimes smokes inside the apartment. He smokes in his room, but the smell does travel around the whole apartment and I had to open the windows next to my bed
The apartment is also a bit far from the city centre so traveling to the main attractions takes a bit long. However, it's around an eight minute walk to the nearest subway station, Zhangguozhuang, which is very convenient. The last train to Zhangguozhuang from Xiju is at 10.10pm so you have to make sure that you head home in time. If you miss the last train, a taxi ride from Xiju station will cost RMB 40.
Another thing to note is that taxi drivers don't know how to get to the apartment so I had to tell them to take me to Zhangguozhuang subway station instead and then walk.
Overall I recommend staying at Christine's place as it's clean, close to the subway station and Christine and her roommate are such lovely people.
This is my first airbnb experience EVER! The host, Christine was really sweet and nice. Her flatmate came to pick me up at the tube station and even helped me with the luggage! I spent almost a week over there. The environment was pretty nice too. The heater keeps the entire house very warm, so there's no need to worry about getting cold haha :) good experience!
Christine and her roommate were great hosts. I was picked up from the train station and walked back to the apartment. The space was as described.
- great hosts, including an adorable kitty. willing to answer questions and share their experiences about where to go in Beijing and how to get around.
What to watch out for:
- the place is pretty far out, and there are no stores nearby for grocery shopping, so eating had to be done while I was out or I brought food back to the apartment.
Although the booking was made on short notice, Christine was very helpful and welcoming. She gave me some tips on when to go where and the bed was really very comfy.
Both Christine and her house mate were very helpful and kind.
Christine's place gives a fascinating glimpse of the edges of Beijing. It's essentially two hours from the airport, which gives you a chance to sit and people watch before emerging on the others side of town. They live in one of the brand new apartment tower complexes that characterize so much of Beijing's subways. Christine and her roommate are both working young professionals. I was met at the station by her roommate Yao, who generously made me tea and a simple but delicious dinner that included a rich chicken soup that Christine had made. We ate together and talked. It felt like a great introduction to a wonderful city full of wonderful people.
Woo！it's awesome! Big surprise to me . Christine's apartment is very big and beautiful, sunshine. The bed is very soft and comfortable. I had a really great airbnb experience in Christine's home! She is very helpful and kind, helped me a lot, great host! Looking forward to see you Christine and thank you so much!
I am new to airbnb and this experience with Christine impressed me so much! Her place is wonderful, sunny and clean, very large space! I slept in the single bed and it's warm and comfortable. Christine is very lovely and nice, she gave me very useful suggestions to explore Beijing and I had a great time staying in Beijing! If I have the chance to go back, I will absolutely choose Christine's place!
We spent four nights at Christine's place. It was OK for us. I must say, it is really far from the city center. Sometimes (depending on where you want to go) you have to transfer between 3-4 subway lines. Main attraction points like Tiannnanmen Square is 65-70 minutes from the house.
Our room, bathroom and the house was in good condition but the kitchen was very messy. Broom and and dust on the floor; stains all over the stove, closet handles and the counter. It was a bit challenging for us to cook in there.
She gives lots of details in her profile (like the Philips hair dryer in the bathroom) but I think she forgot something to mention. There is a CAT in the apartment. I have nothing against the cats but I can't be comfortable around them. If I knew there is a cat in the apartment I wouldn't made a reservation!
I'm not sure why but she also stop communicating with us after the first day. She directly went to her room sometimes even without saying hi. It was weird for us.
First time to experience airbnb and it is such an amazing time for me! The bed is so comfortable and warm! The flat is very clean, large and convenient! This is my second time to beijing and I just need to attend some conferences in Tsinghua U, and here is very convenient to Tsinghua U and besides, I spent lots of daytime to have a rest in the apartment, it is so good! Christine is the greatest host, she cooked some lunch for me and we talked a lot, she is so kind and thoughtful, hope she can get the offer from her dream school! Thank you very much Christine! Hope we can meet in the future!
