We are a couple of university professors who regularly do research in southern France so a number of years ago we acquired our house and have enjoyed it immensely over the years. We like to let it out when we aren't using it. We have established wonderful relationships with our French neighbors and although we will be not around when you go there, you will be living in a friendly place. Because we have explored the region extensively, we have a number of books for you to use: guide books and maps, books of hikes in the area, histories of the region as well as cultural and language books in English and French and a collection of diverse dvd movies. We love setting out for some town or historic site or medieval church, taking a picnic and just being open to new things, people and experiences. We also enjoy attending concerts- and in summer there are a number of music festivals and series. We also love cooking, have some good cookbooks and enjoy buying local food at different local markets (marchés) and wine at the local winery.
While we love to travel to many places, our life has also taken us to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada where my ancestors settled in the 17th century. Being close to the sea and all the natural beauty there has been important to us. Because of our work, we don't get to spend as much time as we like in Nova Scotia so we are able to offer it as a rental for others to enjoy. There are lovely places to walk or hike and of course the beautiful sandy beach nearby, coves, inlets and lakes which we love. The house is private and quiet, just right for a home away from home.
