I am a 34 year old mexican photographer living in Sweden, travelling together with my swedish girlfriend and our three year old daughter. We love vacation rentals and think they are one of the best ways to get to know a destination!

We felt very welcomed by our host David and his house staff! The place was great inside and out. The house is in a village close to Oaxaca city. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace.
We loved staying there and recommend it to everyone who likes beautiful houses!

Best Airbnb find to date! The Wooden Box is the kind of architectural gem you’d find in Dwell magazine. And the mountainous village where it resides is absolutely magical. I keep looking at my photos of the home + Oaxaca and wishing I were there now.
David (owner) was a pleasure to work with; very responsive and patient in answering my many questions. Sebastian (house manager) was welcoming, incredibly kind and available for whatever we needed. His wife prepared a beautiful floral arrangement, bowl of fresh fruit and plate of store-bought bread. A few Roma tomatoes, bulbs of garlic and an onion sat on the counter. The refrigerator had orange juice, milk, 6-pack of Indio beer, carton of eggs (all newly purchased) and some condiments. Sebastian even ran out to get us two additional jugs of drinking water. Sebastian was ever so instrumental in coordinating transportation to/from airport. He offered to pick us up one evening in Oaxaca City after we celebrated a birthday. The transportation fees were very reasonable and worth every peso.
As a single female, I felt comfortable staying in the house alone just as David assured me. The first night however, I was a bit startled when the town announcements began as they echo loudly throughout the valley; they occur in the morning, too. They’re a bit comical and slightly annoying. Two friends joined me four out of the six nights. To have a bit of privacy, I opted to sleep in the small guest house in back of The Wooden Box for those nights. The space is modest with a bed, two chairs, wooden crate nightstand, hook on the wall and a few windows. It was a lovely napping spot, too.
The house itself is a dream. Beds are comfy, kitchen well equipped, towels, washcloths, blankets, soap, shampoo, conditioner all provided. It’s nice that shoes need to be removed at the door. In the loft area, there are Ikea lockers to secure valuables. Wi-Fi was good and landline phone handy. There’s no washer/dryer, but a Lavanderia is nearby. One of the highlights was sitting on the rooftop terrace taking in the views or just reading a book in the sun. There’s even a chiminea up there with wood to build a fire. To hear the many local dogs have a bark-off one night was entertaining.
The Wooden Box is a tranquil retreat from being in Oaxaca City. Walking up the hill to get to the colectivo pick-up spot is a workout, but the service is pretty slick and cheap. Explore the breathtaking grounds of the Centro de las Artes and enjoy a tasty meal at Campestre San Agustín. One of my favorite things was walking around the village and coming across a variety of succulents, flowers and trees.
Our time in Etla added to our incredible Day of the Dead experience while visiting Oaxaca, especially the evening of November 1st. We would love to return some day. Thank you, David and Sebastian!
The communication during the booking process and before our arrival was very fast, efficient and pleasant.
On our arrival we met Ida, David and their daughter and were introduced into their flat, the neighborhood and the city perfectly.
David and his wife are very kind and helpfull.
The flat is perfect for a family of three, enough space and you'll find everything you might need. The busstop is only 2 minutes away and direct buses to the city center run roughly every 20 minutes.
Göteborg is really an interesting city to explore with lots of activities.
We can fully recommend David's flat and would stay there another time we come to Göteborg.
David's appartment is the kind of place that makes you feel at home when you open the door for the first time. It matches perfectly the way of living in Göteborg and it is a genuinely good place to stay in when you are visiting this charming city. Authentic swedish style at its best! Thank you again for a wonderful stay :)
We stayed 2 nights at David's apartment with our children. The apartment is very nice and clean and convenient when you travel with kids. The balcony is pleasant and the neighbourhood very quiet (there was a hare in the garden!!).
You can go to the city center by bus very easily and there is a supermarket for grocery's shopping at a walking distance (10mn).
We didn't meet David but he was very helpful and available each time we needed information.
The wooden box is located in a nearby town super close to oaxaca. This is a cute and very nice town with gorgeous mountains around. The flat is super modern and spacious and quite comfortable. We were taken good care by sebastian and david from far away. Really recommend it!!
When we arrived we were not disappointed and the contemporary box was everything we hoped. The views were wonderful! Sebastian the house manager gave us such a warm
introduction. It had all the condiments you would need, hot water and close access to collectivo taxis. The Internet was quite fast and overall it facilitated us perfectly. If you want utter peace beware as the loud advertisements that boom through the hills wake you up most mornings. We found it charming and their are ear plugs if its too much, but we thought we should say. Overall excellent. Oaxaca was our fav so far! Thanks David.
We really enjoy the Marquez´s visit, David his wife and his beautiful baby are so friendly and kind.
They actually share with us very nice experinecess from Suecia, because they live there.
we will miss them.
Great guest, decent people, are welcome anytime!
David et sa femme avec leur adorable Maja ont ont vecu un temps de chen à Paris. Malgré cela et le fait que David a eu mal au dent, ils resté optimiste, agreable, comunicative. J'aimé beaucoup leurs présence chez moi!
