Sylvia and Jim love the out of doors and to travel, especially when it involves hiking, skiing, or cycling. We live in Bolton, Connecticut (USA) and have 2 children, Nevin and Zoe, ages 18 and 15. Sylvia is from Toronto, Canada, and works as a kinesiologist in the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Sylvia spent 2 years in Geneva, Switzerland early in her career, where she learned to speak French fairly well. Jim is from the US and works as an engineer for Pratt & Whitney. We have been married 20+ years.
While we frequent hotels during our business travels, we have always preferred to utilize B&Bs or rent apartments when traveling abroad. Previous trips include China, Austrailia (2X), many trips to Quebec and northern Ontario, Scotland, and assorted US destinations. When we are hiking, we are strict observers of the saying "leave no trace", and we utilize this same approach for any places we stay. Our goal is to leave a home or apartment in the same condition as when we arrived (if not better). During our travels, we typically are up early and spend the day actively exploring and enjoying the local community, sites, museums, etc.
2 of our key principles are (1) belief in a world community, and (2) the inherent worth and dignity of all people. As such, we love to travel and meet others, especially when it involves other cultures and traditions.
