Great place! Great host!
My brother and his daughter stayed at David's apartment for a couple of days. The apartment was clean, the internet did work, with the warm water was sometimes difficult (but we got), is close to supermarket and boulangerie, is in a nice area –Kreuzberg and close to metro and bus. David met me at the apartment and he was available and helpful throughout our stay. The apartment was exactly as advertised.
This was exactly what my friend and I were looking for during our long weekend in Berlin. A great space with comfortable beds, easy to get to and close to a couple of fun areas--the cafes on Bergmannstrasse, a quick bike ride to Tempelhof, and the bars on Westerstrasse (website hidden) met us at the apartment to help get us settled and was very patient when our train was about 45 minutes late getting into Berlin. Couldn't ask for better.
I thought it was a nice experience! it has a great atmosphere as the place was a bunker. we have not made use of the kitchen as some appliances were missing from what was promised. but in general i would definitely recommend this palce.
Great apartment in great location! The place is clean, nice and fully equipped.
Host was very flexible with our departure time and was accommodating to our needs. The apartment is in the middle of a hip neighbourhood. supermarkets, pubs and lots of shops are within a short walking distance. Highly recommended!
My two friends and I stayed at DM's apartment for a (website hidden) could not have been more accommodating, he met us at the apartment when we arrived and was available and helpful throughout our stay. The apartment was exactly as advertised. The apartment is located right in the heart of kruezburg and being next to the subway makes it very easy to get around. We highly recommend this apartment for groups that are looking for an authentic Berlin experience.
nice house with all the basic necessary in a nice neighborhood in Kreuzberg, also quite at night. The host showed how everything works in the house and everything was fine.
David is a very nice guy and tried to make it easy for us to come and check in to the apartment. Unfortunately, the apartment was not as described.
Although it's an old bomb shelter, it was in very poor condition. The apartment was quite moldy, especially in the bathroom area, and because it's a basement not much air is coming in so for us it was hard to breath inside. We stayed for only 1 night instead of 6 as planned, cancelled the reservation and left in the morning to a different place.
David was very nice and understating and gave us a full refund without any arguments and apologized for our experience.
If the apartment was clean we would probably stayed for the entire time because its cute and in a good location.
The location really was excellent - right by a U-Bahn station and within walking distance of Kreuzberg and Neukölln. The local area seemed pretty safe even after dark and was a great base for exploring the whole city. We had a good level of contact with the host and there was no problem getting the keys - which was nice after a long journey. We also had a couple of tips for places to go, which turned out to be awesome.
The flat itself was really interesting and quite spacious, but even for two seasoned festival-goers was noticeably unclean. In general, it could have done with a good mop and a wipe down, but the bathroom was really quite grim. The shower head was not attached to the wall, the drain was blocked and the shower curtain was mouldy. It was barely useable.
The kitchen could have just done with a few more bits and pieces of crockery (mainly cups and utensils) and some tea-towels would have been useful.
Over all we had a really good stay in the city and enjoyed the flat, if improvements were made the the cleanliness we would stay again.
We stayed at this Kreuzberg flat in mid-September. The location is very good as there is a metro station nearby; the neighbourhood is central and vibrant, there are shops and bakeries.
The host was friendly and was replying to our questions in a timely manner. He tried to help when needed. For instance, he agreed on an earlier check-in and offered us to buy a heater when we complained that it was cold.
However, we found the flat not corresponding to the images posted on Airbnb. Whereas the photos showed a light and spacious property, in reality the flat was located in the basement as it is actually a re-constructed bunker. This involved several issues: it was dark, cold and most importantly – there was a strong smell of mould, the result of the inevitable moisture.
Another important issue was that although it was indicated in the description that there was heating, it happened to be central, meaning that there was no heating in mid-September. Which brings us back to the heater – as soon as we asked about one, our host suggested we should go get one ourselves and he will refund us. The problem was that we’re tourists and it was not very convenient for us to find the market he suggested and carry a domestic appliance around.
Finally, the cleanliness was questionnable. The bathroom was dirty. Otherwise, the cleaning lady did her job properly, but there were layers of aged filth that are hard to clean in a hurry.
