Our first experience with airbnb and a very positive one. A beautiful house, well equipped, on a quiet Location only a few meters to the sea. And this in combination with a host, who - although not present - was always available for us. A mail and a few minutes later we had an answer.
I only can reccomend both: the house and the host.
Parfait !
Killeenaran is really a very nice place, located in a bay where the light is very changing all along the day, and especially the sunset.
I completely agree with Aoife documentation's description when she says that we are in the best place in south Ireland.
Aoife was always available, as soon as we had a question, and the indications to find the place were very clear.
The house is very pleasant with a beautiful garden behind the house, full equipped, and comfortable.
We've passed 3 fantastic days in this region, where we can discover differents spots of the Ireland (Aran islands, Connemara, Cliff of Moher, Burren).
Thank's for all !
We spent a lovely 3 nights/4 days at the cottage. The roads leading up to the cottage provided an adrenaline rush similar to a roller coaster ride; happily by the 4th day they became less frightening. The cottage was very nicely arranged - the white linens and spreads on the beds gave it a great, clean feel. The kitchen contained plenty of tea for us to enjoy while relaxing and taking in the surroundings. Having access to the sea only a few minutes walk away was amazing. Very interesting to walk out there in the afternoon and then again at sunset to see the dramatic difference the tide makes! Great photo opportunities. Galway City was a short drive away, and we actually preferred the quiet and break from city life. We also went to the Cliffs one afternoon and that was a very scenic drive as well. Overall, we would recommend staying at the Cottage, as it fit our needs very well.
This is a beautiful home in a beautiful area. It is a little ways off the beaten path but what it lacks in proximity, it more than makes up for in charm. The neighborhood is full of quaint thatched cottages and is a stone's throw from the water. We were greeted with a sprig of sea asparagus (delicious!) and a note suggesting we visit the ruins of nearby Tyrone House (which I recommend). The house itself is spacious and well furnished and has a beautiful backyard. I cannot recommend this house enough!
The pictures don't do this place justice -- in the morning the sun pours into a gorgeous kitchen from which you can see their garden laced with flowers. You can walk a path in the evening from the house along the bay, leading out to an incredible view of the sunset over the ocean and distant hills. And of course, Galway's just a half hour away or so.
The property is nestled on a small road near Galway Bay. A pleasant backyard, flowers in full bloom when we visited. The house was comfortable for us and two teenagers, spacious and well kept. Love the stove in the kitchen for keeping warm on cool mornings!
When we arrived, it appears that the fuel had run low, but a quick call got everything taken care of with no hassle at all. Wonderfully brisk response for service from Aiofe and her sister.
Highest recommendation for this place and the hosts.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Galway at Aoife's home! It is a beautiful setting away from the city but still a short drive from restaurants and local pubs. We walked to the beach one night and it was surreal! Aiofe was very responsive if we had questions prior to our stay or while we were there. She left a very descriptive note as to how to work different things in the house. I would definitely recommend this sweet country cottage to anyone looking to stay in Galway, Ireland!
Great guests!! Welcomed back anytime!!
The Andersons are a wonderful family from a beautiful part of the world. I first visited them on a dark stormy winters night 6 years ago, it was freezing outside but inside was lovely and cosy with the fire burning away. No matter which season it is the local area is great for exploring, from the fresh seafood hand picked from the local pier to wandering the local woods and fields. And you're always guaranteed to meet an interesting neighbour who'll stop for a chat.
The whole family are a great gang, always very accommodating and will make you feel at home instantly, no matter where you are (which could be many places, they're spread far and wide). I honestly can't recommend a better place to experience the real Galway, and while you're there be sure to have a BBQ in their beautiful garden then take a stroll down to the pier to watch the sunset, maybe even have a quick dip if you're feeling brave!
The Anderson family are the most hospitable and interesting family I know. I have stayed with them on countless occasions (thanks to being married to one of them :)) and I have seen all there is to see in Galway and more. I am a host, and several of the Andersons are hosts in Dublin, Galway and San Francisco. They know how to take care of people and are the perfect hosts. I've eaten oysters from the bay just at the end of their street, walked through the fields and forests nearby. Their home and its location is an incredible opportunity to visit the real West Coast of Ireland. It's cozy and can easily fit 8 people, the highlight though is their garden which is beautifully maintained and a proper wild country garden. You can't go wrong with the Anderson home!
