Appearance is just like the photos. Bathroom was lovely and clean. Pleasant stay, although street noise was a bit of an issue while we were there. There was some construction in the area which may not have helped! The windows could be opened it was nice to hve fresh air even if a bit noisy. Eugene was available if you needed anything. Overall we can recommend Eugenes place.
Eugene was a fabulous host, ensuring that we were well cared for. The 4 of us arrived via Amtrak at Union Station and walked (with our luggage) to Eugene's place. There was a Safeway store and a great restaurant (Busboys and Poets) within walking distance, too.
We also walked from the apartment down to the National Mall in the area of the Capitol Building. We took the walk after dark without any problems at all.
Eugene was available to answer questions the couple of times we called. He made his computer and printer available for us to print sightseeing tickets that we purchased on line. We also enjoyed watching one of his many DVD's on his great entertainment system, which includes a wonderful wide screen television.
We made use of the kitchen to prepare breakfast for ourselves each morning. There were many staples available (seasonings, milk, juice, etc.) Kitchen utensils are just the basics, not adequate for anything more than just basic food prep.
There is one bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Eugene set up an air mattress in an alcove that served adequately as a second bedroom. The space is definitely okay for four people ... although there is only one bathroom.
The apartment was comfortable, clean, and inviting. This was our first experience with AirBNB, and Eugene was the perfect host. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone wanting a location close to Capitol Hill. Our every expectation was met and/or exceeded.
Eugene was a great host! He's the building manager so during the day you can find him in his office in the lobby. He helped us with the packages we were expecting and took care of some issues we had during our stay. (cable/wifi stopped working)
The apt matches the description. It's located on a corner of the top floor. There are several tall windows so you'll have great light and view. We only had 2 issues: the apt was not so clean. There were some dust balls on the carpet and some pieces of not-so-used furniture were not cleaned in a while. Second, there was little space to put our things, almost everywhere was taken with Eugene's personal things.
Anyways, it was a pleasant stay and Eugene certainly is a professional host and will make sure you have a comfortable stay!
Eugene is a good host with a lovely apartment. He's an experienced host who manages the building he lives in. He has a great DVD collection, big TVs, and a comfortable bed. My one concern is the neighborhood. It is still very "up and coming" but I felt safe the whole time.
Had a very comfortable stay at Eugene's apartment - it was far superior to staying in a hotel! The block itself (named Sun Vera by the way, if you're ordering a taxi/food) is a new development; I believe only about one year old, so the amenities and décor of public areas are in great shape - as are those of the living space. The flat looks just like it does in the pictures and was spotlessly clean. The neighbourhood was relatively quiet for somewhere so central and we weren't bothered by any excess noise. The closest metro is at Union Station - about a 10-15min leisurely walk away. There is a Safeway grocery store about a 10min walk away as well as a liquor store about 10mins away. You can walk to a lot of pubs and restaurants which are about 15mins' walk away, so all in all, a superb location. We made good use of the free WiFi and cooking facilities - the only thing we were lacking was more crockery to use. Eugene was very friendly and helpful and accomodated all of our requests. He was busy the day we arrived and had yet to move his things out of the apartment, so had to spend a little time then and the next day doing that - however, he didn't take long and called before arriving to check it was okay. He also moved some of his clothes out of the drawers for us to use and let us know he was nearby if we needed anything (he actually works in the building's office so he's easy to find!) I'd definitely recommend Eugene's apartment to anyone and would certainly stay here again if I had the opportunity.
Eugene is a sweet and wonderful host. Because of my work and travel schedule, I arrived really late at night and left early in the morning. I also requested to stay an extra day. He easily accommodated my requests. His apartment is just like the pictures, and he is close by to answer any questions. The neighborhood is transitioning/gentrifying. I had access to gated parking and also could walk to the Mall and bikeshare stations. I did not take the Metro but there were signs that there were stations closeby. There's also a grocery store and a gym close by. Definitely recommend this apartment.
Our stay at Eugene's apartment was wonderful. The place was extremely clean and looks just like the photos. Eugene was on the premises during the day so he was available for any questions, although we never had any. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the Union Station Metro and Chinatown. The only caution i would give is that the bed is very firm, but Eugene also provides an air mattress. We would certainly stay at Eugene's place again!
Thanks, Eugene, for making our first airbnb experience a great one. Just would have been better if you'd have arranged cooler temps for the 15-min. walks to the Metro and a quieter air conditioner over the couch. We really appreciate the lift to the bus terminal! And sorry if we ate too much of your food. To those reading this review: if you check out (website hidden) street view of the address, there's no building there! Turns out that's because it's a new building.
Eugene was very friendly and made the stay very comfortable. His house was a great place to stay in and he made sure that we felt at home. I'd recommend him to everyone!
