Lucy and her husband were kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure they had what I needed and was more than comfortable. I was starving when I first arrived the first evening, but they conveniently live very close to a few GREAT (and lively) Tex-Mex restaurants. They are also only about 16-20 minutes (tops) from the airport, which was a nice surprise. It was a great central location for me, since I had to shoot a wedding in Dripping Springs. The bedroom was simple, but had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable. In fact, I guiltily slept in both days I was there! This was my very first Airbnb Experience, so I think I may be spoiled now.
Easy Check in and check out. Nice privacy. Able to come and go with no hassle.
Hosts were super friendly.
The room was extremely cozy, just like home.
Great getaway from city noise.
Would definitely stay again !
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This was our very first bed and breakfast experience, and we were a little nervous going in. But everyone in the house was very friendly, kind, and easy to talk to, and they made it a very great experience for us. I highly recommend staying here, and if I ever need a place to stay in Manchaca again, I would love to come back :).
Staying with Lucy was an absolute joy! Lucy & Al made me feel at home. My first nights I would have dinner and watch movies with them. I felt like I was staying with family. The room was perfect and sharing the bathroom was not a big deal. The room and bath were very clean. Their home is extremely easy to get too. They are about 18 minutes from the Austin Convention Center (with no traffic) and about 20 minutes from the airport (with no traffic). They are close to the grocery store, Walgreens, etc.
Even Tiger (the dog) and AC & DC (the cats) were welcoming. The cats would hang out with me every morning as I got dressed to leave. My only regret is that I didn't get to spend more time with Lucy & Al once my conference started. I wasn't home much except to sleep and shower. Next time I am in Austin, I know where I will be staying.
TIP: If you stay here, be sure to go to Salt Lick BBQ. It is not far from their home and worth the trip.
I know Lucy from a local Austin restaurant where she booked the music. She hired a few of my friends and family and I also did three art shows at the restaurant. She is a fun, personal professional. Great to hang out with and work with.
I have known Lucy for 20 years, during which time I have stayed as a guest at one of her properties. Lucy is lovely, and so is her home. Enjoy your stay!
Lucy is really great- laid back, but really together. She has a broad set of interests, and represents everything great about Austin- Intelligent, fun, artistic. Her home is beautiful- like living in the country, but only a few minutes from downtown!
