Adam and Andrea were accommodating and very friendly hosts. I was in Shanghai for a 19 hour layover and my purpose was to get a taste of the city. Their neighborhood is authentic and the main drag outside of their condo has a ton of food establishments and small businesses. Adam's knowledge of the Chinese culture and language was also an advantage since I don't know a lick of Mandarin. Although I stayed on a Sunday night, they were nice enough to take me out for some food, drinks, and a much needed $10 massage after my 15 hour flight. Their spare room had a small desk and a twin bed and was more than sufficient for me to catch up on sleep. I arrived mid-September, so the many windows in their 20th floor apartment provided a magnificent breeze.
I was traveling through china and needed a place to stay in Shanghai...wanted to see some American faces, and so I found Adams place. Seriously has everything you need to be comfortable, they are fun and great to be around, polite, and overall great hosts. Try it out!!
Adam and Andrea’s place is absolutely great! It’s extremely spacious and has an extensive view over the city. It feels just like a home away from home with plenty of room, and all the necessities to make any visitor feel comfortable. Andrea even had breakfast foods for me in the morning.
Adam was away on business while I was there, but his wife Andrea helped me navigate the city and gave me some great recommendations for places to eat, things to do and where to enjoy the best nightlife. She helped me with directions, showed me several websites online which listed different events and even walked with me to show me where the metro and nearby coffee shops were. There’s also an awesome restaurant nearby (Cotton’s) with great food and atmosphere.
The flat is conveniently located near several metro lines, including Line 10, which goes to the train station and Hongqiao Airport Terminal. It’s also in a great spot in Shanghai- easy walking distance to the French Quarter and for the more resilient, it’s possible to walk to many other tourists areas including People’s Square, Nanjing Lu and The Bund, although Andrea and Adam did offer to let me use their bike.
Even though I didn’t meet Adam in person, I had the pleasure of chatting with him on (website hidden). He gave me some more recommendations of things to do and offered to show me around Shanghai if I ever had the chance to come back. I would highly recommend Andrea and Adams place to anyone. They’re extremely hospitable, kind and fun to talk with and their flat is lovely. Thank you for everything!
