The guest cottage was very comfortable and just as listed. It was quiet and had a lovely view. The neighborhood was walkable and parking was easy to come by. It was the perfect spot for our visit (2 adults & 1 kid). We'll certainly be back!
The description was very accurate! The cottage was super cozy and perfect for me, my boyfriend and our doggie! The neighborhood is really safe and it's very close to the BART station. There are a lot of cute cafes & restaurants to check out nearby as well. It has an incredible view of the city! Also, it was very clean and well kept. I definitely recommend!
The place was clean and bare essentials were provided. I never met my host, but called her to get the WIFI to work. There was nothing welcoming nor personal. I had trouble getting into the door with the keys provided in the mailbox as they were not marked I had to search through the locks. The stairs to go down are dangerous in the dark if you have luggage. The West Elm furniture has lost its charm after years of usage. Too highly priced. I will not recommend the 'cottage' because I think this owner is just in it for the $$ and should reach out to provide better, more welcoming service.
The cottage is cozy and nice. It is not far from center. But you might need a car to drive around，otherwise，you will have to hike on the hill road. Dana is very nice and kind lady. She had been very helpful to solve the little problem （which is the connection of WIFI）. I had an enjoyable stay.
Our stay at the guest cottage was great! The hosts were helpful when contacted but otherwise gave us total privacy, which was just what we wanted. I recommend doing some poking around the cottage when you arrive-- I missed the trash can liners until the last day so we were using a paper bag. Oops! I loved that there were plenty of kitchen utensils so we could save some money by cooking in. There's one window without a curtain, which felt a little weird, but there didn't seem to be any direct sight lines to the sleeping area, so that was ok. The "bedroom" window has a GORGEOUS VIEW :-) the place overall is tidy and well-kept, even if some of the furniture has some wear and tear on it.
Although there are usually parking spots on the street, it's only for 4 hours at a time 9-5. I had been to this neighborhood before so I knew where I could leave my car for longer stretches of time. Guests newer to the neighborhood might need to do more exploring to find these spots, so plan ahead.
Super convenient location for taking BART. Big hill to walk up if you are coming back on foot. I think there's a bus you can take to avoid it but it's such a short walk it seems silly to wait for the bus unless it's really difficult for you.
Great experience overall -- this guest cottage is a perfect home base for exploring the city with some nights or mornings in.
We loved our stay. It was a completely accurate description and we really enjoyed the privacy. It was a professional operation all around.
This charming little cottage was a perfect getaway spot within San Francisco, with the special bonus of easy street parking. It was the perfect size for the two of us. The bed was comfy, and the view from the window was stellar. We enjoyed our experience here, and didn't feel overwhelmed by the bustling city. The stairs down to the cottage are a little daunting in the dark, so bring a flashlight (cell phone, etc) in case you forget to leave the patio light on when you go out.
Our host Dana was super nice and helpful, and the neighborhood was quiet and clean. We arrived at the rental really late in the night the first day, and found there was no bedding for the air bed, but Dana sent us the bedding and fresh towels the next day after we told her. Her husband also helped us to fix the heater so we could turn it on at night. If you are using the air bed, the cottage is not very spacious, but still good for the price. Highly recommend visiting twin peaks on a sunny day: you can see the whole San Fran, and it's only 10 min of drive away from the rental. All in all, thanks Dana, and recommend this place.
Our host Dana went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The cottage was exactly what we wanted and expected. Things really couldn't have been any better. Dana is incredibly kind and considerate, we just loved her. The kitchen, bathroom, sheets were all spotless. It smelled so lovely when we walked in :) this is a perfect spot and we encourage everyone to stay with Dana! After checkout, Dana allowed us to store our bags in her house so we wouldn't have to lug them around all day. Thank you Dana for an awesome time!
Our trip to SF was better than we could have anticipated, and our stay at Dana's contributed greatly to the experience. The neighbourhood was a clean and quiet area with basic amenities, and in close proximity to transit (BART and MUNI) to other areas, activities and the airports. Checking in and out was a breeze. Parking seemed rather abundant, although public transit is probably the best way to get around in kost of the Bay area.
As for the cottage, the photos did not do it justice. The views from the patio, living room window and back entrance were all spectacular. I would wholeheartedly disagree with other reviews of this property regarding tidiness; the cottage itself, linens and towels were clean The decor was cute and the mattress was comfortable (speaking as someone that does appreciate softer mattresses). The furniture is not new and has seen some wear, but was clean and functional. The patio is quaint and a good spot for morning coffees, and the Wifi and satellite tv provided some creature comforts during downtime. However, the bathroom door does not provide the most private experience, which was fine for us as a couple, but may be somewhat uncomfortable for others. Lastly, we were unpleasantly surprised by what we could only call a plumbing odour, but realized that this seems to be the scent of the city and not specific to the unit.
Ultimately, as first-timers looking to discover SF from a residential area within a stone's throw of transit, live like the locals and have a quieter space to lay our heads after a day of sightseeing, Dana's cottage provided exactly what we were looking for and at a reasonable price by SF standards. This is not a party pad or hood, and we felt at home right away.
Advice for other late arrivals, local stores and restaurants close fairly early (most by 9pm), so if your flight gets in late like ours did, grab something on route.
