Mohammed was great! Friendly and helpful.
The place is just like in the pictures. The rooms have quite some space. The bathroom is nice. You have cable TV and the Internet has great reception as the wireless is just below the room.
There is a kitchen which you can use and that's great if you'd like to cook your own food.
There are plenty of (mainly indian, pakistani, bangleshi and turkish) shops and restaurants. A lot of the shops are open till rather late. There are a couple of Tesco stores and laundry and dry cleaning services nearby. Besides -- Mohammed's shop is just below the apartment and you can buy groceries, and fish.
The bus stop is just at the exit. Literally.
The subway (Bethnal Green) is two stops away by bus. Getting to Liverpool Street by bus takes around 15 minutes.
Mohammed was a very nice host and greeted me when I arrived at the apartment. He provided a thorough tour and made sure I was set up before leaving. He owns the shop below the apartment and checked in multiple times to see that my stay was going well.
The room was sparsely decorated but very clean, and it was convenient to have a private bathroom in the room. Digital cable was provided and the wifi had a strong signal in my room. The provided safe was a good extra to store my valuables while I was away from the room.
I chose the Bethnal Green location because it was centrally located between Olympic Park and Central London. This worked out really well for my trip since I was able to tour the city during the day and attend Olympic events in the evening. There is a bus stop directly outside the apartment and it is located about a 10 min walk from both the Bethnal Green and Shoreditch tube stations.
If I wasn't going to the Olympics, I probably would have chosen a different location. I appreciated that I could get a late night doner or shawarma on my way back from the pubs, but I enjoyed going out elsewhere in the city better than this area.
Overall, I had a great trip and appreciated Mohammed's hospitality and clean apartment.
My stay at Mohammed's place in Bethnal Green was very comfortable. The house is convenient 7 min walk from the Bethnal Green tube station on the Central line, with lots of restaurants and supermarkets close by - in fact the Tesco Express was right across the road!
The ensuite toilet was a real plus. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others wanting a reasonably priced place to stay in central London.
