We had a wonderful experience at Casa Sueca. Although Mariano was not present on the property, Eduardo, the groundskeeper was available to show us around the apartment, as well as assist us with any of our questions. Eduardo was patient with my advanced Spanglish as well, as he spoke very little English. Prior to our arrival Mariano was kind enough to arrange a shuttle for us from LIR to Tamarindo, and upon our arrival Eduardo even gave us some delicious Imperials to enjoy in the pool. The gardens and pool were nothing short of magical, and wonderful to wind down after a day at the beach, which was accessible directly across the street from the property via the pathway. The walk to the main strip in Tamarindo from Casa Sueca is slightly longer than 10 minutes, and there were plenty of taxis present although we never utilized them. We also walked back and forth at all hours of the day and night, and felt completely safe. Overall a lovely location, highly recommended.
Overall awesome! My boyfriend and I has a great stay at Casa Sueca. Edwardo, the care taker, was incredibly friendly and accommodating - however, make sure you know your Spanish! Beautiful pool, nice apartment with everything we needed to cook our meals and most importantly, a great and quite location. Easy to walk downtown, playa Langosta, the Super 2001 (a bit expensive grocery store, if you have a car drive to a bigger market off the beach). Also, easy driving to Negra and other nearby beaches. I highly recommend taking a hike to the exposed reef point between Tamarindo and Langosta for the sunset, it's incredible. Bring the bug spray, tons of mosquitoes when the wind isn't blowing.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Sueca for 3 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay. The accommodations are perfect, everything you need. The pool and private hammock are perfect spots to relax after a day at the beach which is a 1 minute walk away. The main tamarindo beach is a 10 minute walk up the beach. Overall, we were very happy with our accommodations.
Overall my wife and I enjoyed our 3 day stay at Casa Sueca. Great proximity to the beach, and village of Tamarindo. Although maintenance man Eduardo speaks no English, he was more than accommodating for us during our stay. The only negative I can say is that it was a bit hard to find at first, but after I did find the place I felt a little bit silly for having so much trouble. If ever in Tamarindo again I would certainly stay here.
We stayed for 5 nights and everything was nicer than expected! The pictures do no justice. The pillows towels and linens are nice and the shower curtain looked new. The property is maintained very well. The garden/pool area is beautiful and the studio apt. was supplied with everything we needed. Our room was serviced daily and the location is perfect, 75 meters from the beach. Goldy made us feel at home and was even so kind to offer us a ride when we departed. I'm looking forward to returning!
I enjoyed the apt very much and Edwardo was very patient with me considering the language barrier. I would stay there again if I was in Tamarindo again.
Place was great! Eduardo was there waiting for us when we arrived. He greeted us at the gate and although he spoke no English he was very welcoming and we were able to get by with the little spanish we know. He gave us a tour of the place, wifi details, keys, etc. He stays at the property and watches over everything which is comforting. He also keeps the place looking great! We had a fresh pack of Costa rican coffee waiting as well. The place is great as its away from the main hustle of Tamarindo but still close enough to walk and direct beach access with only ~200ft walk. We stayed in one of the lower units with two double beds but would definitely consider coming back and renting additonal units that can accomodate all kinds of sized groups with 5 separate units within the property!
Well the place was close to the main strip in Tamarindo, the place was nice and the room was good. We were greeted by a young gentleman who did not know any English, so translation was difficult until he contacted the host. After that things went smooth. There are Mosquitos so bring lots of bug dope!
After a slight issue with some mustiness and a bit of trouble communicating exactly where the place is - i was upgraded to a WONDERFUL unit above and the location is fantastic, the unit is fantastic, it is right across the street from the beach - there is a nice restaurant hotel across the street - 10 min walk to the main Tamarindo beach, though this one is possible better and totally (website hidden) is fantastic, salt-water pool is terrific, and diana the host is WONDERFUL - great personal touches and a ton of information about everything you would need.
Great place to stay!
Casa Sueca was by far my favorite place we stayed while in Costa Rica. We loved it so much that we actually changed the entire second half of our trip to come back here. Casa Sueca, to me, is rustic elegance. It is a no frills place that is a short path away from the beach. The landscaping of the place is beautifully done and keeps cool during the peak hours of the day. Alejandra, the housekeeper/receptionist did a fantastic job in helping us in any way she could. The owners of the four unit (I think only four) complex were staying next to us. A little Spanish goes a long way in communicating as Alejandra, who is in charge of checking you in, knows little to no English.
When looking for the place, many people did not know the name "Casa Sueca" Tell your cabbie or whoever else it is next to Capitan Suiza.
Muchas Gracias !!! Fue un placer tener a Mariano y Flia en Mi departamento ..
