I've got many passions and following them has given me quite the variety of life experiences. I've lived & worked aboard tall ships (boats like "Pirates of the Caribbean"), at an educational permaculture farm, at a mountain retreat center, and in the wilderness leading rites of passage trips for teens, as well as having pursued a graduate degree & living/working for organizations in San Francisco.
In addition to adventuring, I'm wildly curious & brainy and have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to learning about culture--specifically cultural practices that most effectively foster relationship & creativity. As such, I love connecting with people, love the power of story, love learning about others' relationship to place & sharing my own. I also happen to love cooking (worked as a cook for a while), gardening, design, laughing, dancing, & various other forms of creative expression.
Some of my favorite travels so far include: going to Japan to play against their national lacrosse team & getting to play by Mt. Fuji, doing a sailing tour of volcanic formations in the Eastern Caribbean & stopping at 8+ islands, traveling with different community-based forestry groups in Kenya to learn about the culture of tree planting there inspired by Dr. Wangari Maathai, & road-tripping/rafting from the headwaters of the Colorado River to the delta in Mexico as part of a research study of the watershed. I've loved all of these experience because of the local history, amazing experiences, & friends I encountered along the way.
As a guest, I am very respectful of you sharing your space with me and I look forward to experiencing your part of the world.
