I am originally from North Carolina (am a big tarheel fan and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill). I have lived in San Francisco for 7.5 years. I started and run an international non-profit called Groundwork Opportunities ((website hidden)) that identifies and partners with developing world communities that envision and manage self sustaining programs aimed at addressing fundamental communal issues such as education, health care, and sustainable agriculture. Once partnerships are established, GO provides the community with start-up capital to bring their ideas to fruition and creates a global support network to scale the impact of their work.
I love what I do and I spend about 4 months out of there year traveling to Africa, South America, or Asia to work with the communities we support. I am also an avid foodie and write a small food blog about my adventures in eating and spending time with friends (I love to cook and host dinner parties). If I am not traveling or working or eating, I can be found out running trails or putting long hours on my road bike to prep for the next triathlon (I love to race and compete in ironman tri's).
My partner, James Rogers, will be traveling with me. He is an "outdoor adventure seeker" and sustainable guru. As such, he is the head of North Face's corporate sustainability program and often can be found doing extreme backcountry snow trips or working avalanche patrol up in the sierras.
Our dear friends, Kris Harrison and Judy Kim, who got married last year in New Orleans (it was an awesome wedding right near the french quarter), will be with us.
