John was great! Extremely accommodating and friendly.
John offered to pick me up from the airport, drove me to the office when Atlanta was especially cold, and was all-around very generous and helpful.
The neighborhood was great, also --- walkable to a lot of fun bars, restaurants, etc.
Having never been to Atlanta (or the South) I didn't know what to expect. Although I didn't get a chance to meet John in person, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during my short time in town during my road trip. The room was spacious and clean, block was quiet, and John even lent me his heater, which I appreciated.
Location is in a very cool old/new part of town - I was able to walk a block to have a great night at Jack's Pizza and Wings, then the next morning enjoyed Highland Bakery for breakfast. If I had time I would have checked out the MLK birthplace as well. Would definitely stay again.
The John's house is incredibly clean and convenient, and John himself easy-going : my friends and I were in a perfect distance (20min walk) between all the places we like - them, Downtown, me Little Five Points. We had a good time, I recommend.
John's house was fantastic, clean and spacious. Great location, parking, wireless internet, laundry. The dogs loved the place as well. Would love to stay here again next time we visit family in Atlanta.
John has a nice little house in a great Atlanta neighborhood. It's an easy walk to several restaurants including the Highland Bakery which is so good. It is also near two walking trails which I used everyday. The washer and dryer are the best part of the house if you are staying several months like I did. As per previous reviews, the bathroom is a little weird but it wasn't a problem for me, you just have to get used to it. Also, I think a previous reviewer said there was no coffee pot, well there is one now but you will probably need to bring your own coffee and filters. Finally, the house can be cold when the weather isn't nice as there is not a tight seal around the doors. Overall, this was the perfect place for my 10 week stay in Atlanta.
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
John is amazing. His place is super great. Super clean, safe, and located perfectly to everything hip in Atlanta. Right by Little 5 Points and behind some amazing restaurants that open early to eat yummy food. I would highly recommend staying at his place.
First the good: Cute house with a fantastic location. We loved walking around the Inman Park neighborhood with its gorgeous victorian mansions and pretty parks. Great coffee and baked goods just around the corner, lots of restaurants nearby, walk to the MLK Memorial (fascinating and moving), just minutes to the Aquarium. John made checking in easy and the house was (mostly) comfortable.
The bad: The bathroom. The toilet is in an odd location so that your knees are rubbing up against the sink cabinet. The bathroom is cute and would be so improved were the toilet rotated 90 degrees and put against the far wall, there is space to do this! Plus, the bowl hadn't been scrubbed. Also the tub wasn't clean and the shower curtain smelled of mildew...I took sponge baths and washed my hair in the kitchen sink. There is now a nice table on the patio, but everything was covered with wet leaves from a recent rainstorm, this should have been ready for us to use. The dining room chairs are failing, springs or something makes you sink in too far such that the wood frame cuts in to your legs. Dust kittens and no hangers in the closets. Front and back doors have windows in them with no blind to pull. Where is the coffee maker? We searched and searched, but when we finally walked over to the Highland Bakery for coffee we were glad to drink one of the best lattes ever.
The house is in an adorable community with several restaurants nearby, including a delicious bakery. The location of the house was ideal for us because we were attending DragonCon and we could either walk or drive very conveniently. The house included a double bed and a double futon and we took an air mattress with us, so four people were able to sleep comfortably. Having the refrigerator, stove, washer and driver was amazing. It was nice being able to head home with clean clothes. In regards to the host John, he could not have been nicer. We called and emailed him several times and he always took the time to answer all of our questions. He even had some recommendations on restaurants and spots nearby to check out. Overall our stay was very pleasant.
First, John is very open and communicative - very responsive on email, and gave good tips about parking, the house and local eateries.
The house itself is nice - two full-size bedrooms with plenty of closet space and so on. We were just two people, and four would be the maximum. Kitchen is fully equipped with a massive fridge. We visited in August, and had to keep the balcony shut because of mosquitoes, but that's all. There's a parking space attached to the house - not clear if we can use it (we did a few times, but I forgot to check with John on that). Street parking is easy in any case.
The neighborhood - Old Fourth Ward - is up and coming, a very mixed urban zone. There are some great restaurants just 3 min walk from the house, such as P'cheen and Highland Bakery. Other houses on the block are clearly renovated; John's retains a cozy, old style.
Finally, it is easy to get around from here, and even better, the roads don't suffer from Atlanta's notorious traffic jams!
In summary, I'll be happy to contact John about another stay next time I'm in Atlanta.
John & Cindy were great to work with. Very courteous, professional and friendly. I would gladly welcome them or their referrals into my home again.
