Wishing you a great stay in San Francisco
The location of Carlo's place is fantastic, really close to the Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square, we also felt safe walking even around 11pm, so if you are looking for that is convenient, this is a nice place.
The room its self is a bit small though, and during the rainy weather, it's kind of humid. Though there's microwave, stove and almost everything that you want in the kitchen, but you might need to be prepared that the smell of the food won't go away easily as it's just a small studio after all.
The Cellar is a great budget option. Carlos is a great host and he responds quickly my emails.
The apartment was very clean and very comfortable.
Our stay at Carlos apartment was OK. The apartment itself is nice, but really small, and the only window is facing the internal courtyard of the building, therefore there is no natural light. The apartment has nice and new furnitures and everything you need for the bathroom and kitchen. Everything was clean but the bed sheet, but it's still not clear if it was fault of the previous guest. Carlos was helpful, we asked him two questions and he replied as soon as possible. The best thing about the apartment is the position: few steps from bus and cable car stops.
The Cellar is a great budget option in the heart of San Francisco. Carlos is a good host and I found him quick to respond to email and helpful.
The apartment has a great location one half block to the Mason Line Cable Car and other MUNI transportation. San Francisco is good in that you abandon your car and use public transportation, which is a highly efficient means to get around. If you are wanting to visit Chinatown or North Beach, this apartment puts you in walking distance. Also to note this is very close proximity to the Cable Car Museum, which is well worth a visit.
The apartment is a funky downstairs spot, that has been tastefully done. There are two beds, a great shower, and enough of a kitchen to do some minimal cooking and coffee in the morning. It is a little quirky inside in that there are lots of levels inside the apartment, you need to use caution to be sure many you are making the steps, not tripping on them unexpectedly!
From the apartment you can ascend the narrow stairways up to the rooftop deck which has a million dollar view of Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge. In the morning you might make out the squawking parrots as they do there morning laps around the area. This deck was the highpoint of this apartment.
All in all, if you are adventuresome and want a central location to downtown this is a good choice.
Carlos' place was great. Very conveniently located, exactly as advertised. Carlos was very good about communication and everything went smoothly without a hitch!
Staying at the Cellar was a great "living in San Francisco" experience. The unit is exactly as Carlos describes. We were not disappointed in the least. Some of the negative comments that have been left in previous reviews were never experienced by us. We had to call Carlos on a small issue and he called us back within 10 minutes to resolve the concern. The roof top deck has an incredible view of the city, Bay Bridge and Coit Tower. Waking up in the morning and drinking coffee while overlooking the neighborhood is a great way to start the day. Transportation by bus and/or cable car is just a few steps away. It's proximity to China Town and Little Italy was perfect for us because we liked to frequent those areas the most.
The main bed is extremely comfortable. We did not use the futon loft and imagined that it is probably more suitable for children/young adults than people in their 50's.
If you're a "traveler" and wish to experience living in San Francisco at a reasonable price this is a top choice. If you're a tourist that likes to be pampered and have every creature comfort attended to 24hrs a day...then we suggest you check into one of the many over-priced hotels down in Union Square. We look forward to coming back and staying at The Cellar!
No real complaints. The area is super wonderful to walk around in.. Definitely the San Francisco you imagine in your head. The flat is very comfortable and the rooftop view is awesome. Carlos was easy to contact and readily responsive. I would stay here again.
We had a great experience in San Francisco. Everything was exactly as explained by Carlos, the apartment was clean and welcoming. It is in a great location, we were able to walk to so much in town. This was a great first experience with airbnb, and I recommend the Cellar to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay while in San Francisco. We did not get a chance to meet Carlos, but he was great at answering any questions I had.
This place is good what what you pay for. The location is good. The rooftop is really enjoyable. Like most people have said the futon mattress up in the loft should be replaced, its uncomfortable. More importantly tho, is there are no stairs or even a step stool to get up into the bed. Even being an active individual it is hard to throw your leg up to get into the bed. At the very least there should be some type of foam cover for the very sharp edge of the loft bed. At least add a box so people have an easier time getting up there. The other bed is very comfy with nice pillows. The space is big for a studio and feels comfortable. If your looking for an affordable place with a ideal location you should rent the cellar. If your looking for a comfy apartment with a little attention to detail so it feels like home, this isn't your place.
The stay at Carlos's place was a unique experience, mostly because of the living quarters being somewhat "hilly". The location was ideal as it was in the middle of everything, with a ton of very good restaurants nearby. Not to mention the bus lines/cable cars were half a block away.
The communication with Carlos couldn't have been easier. Definitely recommended.
